As hot as the couple gets, the flame in a Hollywood marriage fizzles out before a good bottle of wine ages. Let’s take a look at the 10 worse Hollywood weddings that never seemed to be right from the very beginning.
Britney Spears and Kevin Federline
Pop princess Britney Spears got married to back up dancer Kevin Federline on September 18, 2004 in a back yard garden wedding in Studio City, California. After the guests ate Kentucky Fried Chicken at the wedding reception. Just what kind of wedding was this? It didn’t take long until the marriage became a very public train wreck. Add two baby boys, Sean Preston and Jayden James, plus almost two years of marriage, and you have got Britney filing for divorce on July 11, 2006 at the Los Angeles County Superior Court. Since the divorce, the two were involved in a custody battle with their kids causing Britney’s public mental breakdown. But now the two have kept their civil relationship for the sake of their boys, and Britney has admitted that she got married for the wrong reasons. It was not for the wrong reasons, Britney just married the wrong guy.
Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston
When the bad boy of R&B Bobby Brown married Whitney Houston on July 18, 1992 on the grounds of Whitney’s home in Mendham, New Jersey: the public has not seen such a Hollywood marriage spiral out of control with so much history of infidelity, scandals, drug and alcohol arrests, and marital problems during their marriage.
The two have been divorced since September 2006 and they are still at each others throats. The he said/she said war between Bobby and Whitney started when Brown wrote a book called Bobby Brown: The Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing But…where he claimed that Whitney was having a bisexual relationship with her assistant, Robin Crawford. Oh, come on Bobby, is that the best that you can give us?
Anna Nicole Smith and Howard K. Stern
The Late Anna Nicole Smith married Howard K. Stern, a lawyer, on September 28, 2006 off the island of Sandy Kay in the Bahamas on a 42-ft. catamaran named Margaritaville. In home videos of their wedding, Anna was very drunk (probably on margaritas) while stuttering during the ceremonial wedding. This marriage was doomed from the very start. She died at the age of 39 on February 8, 2007 as a result of an overdose of prescription drugs in a hotel suite in Hollywood, Florida. Stern was investigated for obtaining many prescription drugs under his name and then administering them to Smith. It is so sad.
Sandra Bullock and Jesse James
Oscar award winning actress Sandra Bullock tied the knot with Jesse James, the host of Monster’s Garage on July 16, 2005 in a sunset ceremony under a white circus-style tent at the Folded Hills Ranch in the town of Gaviota in Santa Barbara, California. During his marriage to Bullock allegations of James surfaced of having an eleven month affair with Michelle “Bombshell” McGee, a tattooed stripper and adult performer on adult web sites. Well let’s just say James has issues, some serious issues as he claimed. On April 23, 2010 Bullock filed for divorce stating,”unforeseen personal reasons.” What a shame!
R.Kelly and Aaliyah
R. Kelly and the late singer Aaliyah were thought to have gotten secretly married on August 31, 1994. The wedding was surrounded with rumors regarding if it was valid because at the time of the wedding, Aaliyah was 15 years old and Kelly was 27. Although the couple denied that they had gotten married, in 2005, Vibe magazine published the marriage license and removed any doubt that the couple was married. Since Aaliyah had incorrectly stated her age as 18 on the marriage license, the marriage was considered invalid by law, and it was quickly annulled. Aaliyah tragically died in a plane crash on August 25, 2001 in the Bahamas and Kelly has been acquitted from a child pornography case allegedly videotaping himself having sex with underage girls. I think R. Kelly’s next single should be called “I Love Lolita’s.”
Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee
Pamela Anderson married Tommy Lee, drummer of Mötley Crüe, on February 19, 1995 in Cancun, Mexico after knowing him for only 96 hours. The couple is known for their infamous sex tape and very public marital problems related to spousal abuse. The couple divorced in 1998, when Lee served four months in prison after pleading no contest to kicking Anderson while she was holding their son Dylan. Although divorced, the couple reunited briefly upon his release from jail but eventually broke up again. Until this day these two are still seeing each other. I think they hold the record for the longest off-and-on relationship in Hollywood.
Mariah Carey and Tommy Mottola
In June 1993, Mariah Carey married Sony Music Entertainment’s music executive Tommy Mottola in a lavish ceremony in New York. Everyone thought it was a Cinderella wedding, as it was extravagant and highly publicized. Although the public image of the marriage was a happy one, she said that in reality she had felt trapped by her relationship with Mottola, whom she often described as controlling. They officially announced their separation in 1997, and their divorce became final in 1998. Carey has spoken about her marriage with Mottola stating in 2005 for America Magazine, “My relationship with my husband was not a physical relationship. It just wasn’t. That relationship shaped who I am. It beyond shaped me. I still have nightmares about it.” I would have nightmares as well.
Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards
On June 15, 2002 Charlie Sheen married actress Denise Richards in a Catholic ceremony at the Brentwood, California home of Gary David Goldberg, producer for Spin City. Sheen and Richards said their vows under an arch with one thousand rose blooms. The two have two daughters, Sam Sheen and Lola Rose. The marriage lasted until March 2005, when Richards filed for a divorce from Sheen. The couple briefly reconciled and were seeking marital counseling to mend their relationship. However, on January 4, 2006 Richards’ representative announced that she was continuing with the divorce. In April 2006, Richards filed a restraining order against Sheen stating that he was addicted to pornography, drugs, and alcohol. Well based on his track record for being one of the top clients on Heidi Fleiss’ call-girl escort service, you cannot be surprised.
Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt
The MTV couple from the reality TV show The Hills got married two times. The first time was in a staged wedding in Mexico on November 2008 (it was shown on The Hills on Pratt’s video camera), then the second time in a ceremony at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Pasadena, California on April 25, 2009. The two became famous for becoming a household name when they became the stars on The Hills. But after Montag’s radical plastic surgery transformation and Pratt’s weird behavior on the show, the two called it quits after Montag filed for legal separation on June 8, 2010.
The Hills ended its final season and Montag is already shooting her own reality show about being an independent single woman. Wonder what Pratt’s doing? Probably playing video games in his Hollywood pad.
Amy Winehouse and Blake Fielder-Civil
British singer Amy Winehouse wed Blake Fielder-Civil on May 18, 2007. Without any guests, the two got hitched at the Miami Dade County marriage license bureau, after which they headed over to the Big Pink Diner for a bite to eat. Sounds like a Friday afternoon walk in the park. But the real honeymoon began when their marriage focused on drug abuse and domestic violence resulting in some very bloody pictures of Winehouse and Civil severely bruised and cut after getting into a fight. They say love hurts, but it shouldn’t have to hurt this bad. The two divorced on July 16, 2009 and Amy’s antics with her violent temper has been questioned as she likes to beat up her fans and have a crack pipe near by. Rehab, can’t help you now Amy.
