I have to admit that I do not watch a lot of the television programs that are running today. Most of these seem to be reality shows of some type and I am not a big fan of these types of shows. Reality is around me every day. When I turn on the television, I want to lose myself in a fantasy world of some type whether it is in a hospital, a federal office building or some other type of office – just as long as the writing is good, the actors are better and there are handsome men involved.
That being said, I have a few favorite shows that I have to watch every week. Supernatural, Grey’s Anatomy, Leverage, Criminal Minds, and most definitely NCIS. These five shows have the hottest, sexiest men on television – especially three of the five. Here are my picks for the 10 sexiest men on television today.
10 – (Tie) Brian Dietzen (Jimmy Palmer, NCIS) and Matthew Grey Gubler (SSA Dr. Spencer Reid, Criminal Minds)
These two men are not the hunkiest or hottest men on television, or for that matter, on this list. However, there is something about these two young men that makes me want to give them a big hug and kiss before pinching their cheeks. They have the kind of charisma that draws you in and makes you care about their characters. You cringe every time someone speaks harshly to them or tries to hurt them in any way. You want to protect these men while cheering them on when they do something macho or manly.
Jimmy Palmer is the assistant ME on NCIS. While he is not in danger very often, there have been times when he has been close to losing his life or his heart. This was especially true in the Season 6 episode, “About Face.” Jimmy was at a crime scene and encountered a criminal who shot at him after Jimmy chased him. This is a young man who envisions himself being an NCIS field agent. One who helped Tony out when he was team leader the summer that Gibbs was in Mexico. One that received the code name “Black Lung” from Tony. Yet, when faced with a real threat, Jimmy was like most of us and developed the brain freeze. Thankfully, the brain freeze melted and Jimmy was able to identify the man. Not only that, he stopped the man from leaving the scene by crashing his car into the suspect’s truck. Not a very good idea, I admit, since the man was ready to shoot Jimmy until the team arrived and stopped him. Still, you had to be proud of Jimmy’s guts.
Dr. Spencer Reid is another young man who has had to show that even though he may be small and brainy, he can also be a force to be reckoned with. While many suspects have scoffed at the young FBI agent – one in particular called Spencer “a toothpick with eyes”- and the other FBI Special Agents tend to keep an eye out for him and defend him – Spencer still manages to hold his on in a crisis situation. Sure, he may break down when it is over, but he is tough when he has to be.
Spencer has been held hostage several times during his time as an FBI agent. Spencer had to deal with the guilt of allowing Emily, his co-worker, to be beaten instead of him even though it was her choice. During another hostage situation, Hotch said some very cruel things about Spencer’s abilities while hitting him in order to gain the trust of the criminal and allow Spencer the chance to shoot him. And in the worst hostage situation, Spencer was tortured and drugged for two days before the man tried to bury him alive. Luckily, he managed to save himself just as the team arrived.
These two men may be young and compact, but they can handle themselves when the need arises. Maybe that is what makes them so very appealing to me.
9 – Patrick Dempsey (Dr. Derek Shepherd, Grey’s Anatomy)
Patrick Dempsey has come a long way in his career. Who would have thought that the geeky, teen-age Ronald Miller, who had to pay $1,000.00 to date a popular girl in “Can’t Buy Me Love,” would turn out to be every woman’s fantasy – Dr. Derek Shepherd, better known as McDreamy, on “Grey’s Anatomy.” I certainly would never have guessed it.
When they say someone gets better looking with age, they definitely had Patrick Dempsey in mind. Any woman in their right mind would love to have a doctor like Dr. Shepherd. Of course, if they were prone to dizzy spells, high blood pressure or racing heart it would probably be best to stay away from him. Otherwise, they might end up dead just watching him walk into the room.
8 – Christian Kane (Elliott Spencer, Leverage)
When Christian Kane left “Angel”, I was very upset. He was one of my favorite characters. Even though he played an evil lawyer (who gave us glimpses of goodness once or twice) who was intent on killing our hero, Angel, there was something about this man that made you want to like him. Maybe it was those beautiful blues eyes of his. Or maybe it was how gorgeous he was in a suit. Maybe it was the beautiful voice he had when singing at Lorne’s club. Whatever it was, he was greatly missed on Angel until he made his return in Season 5. When he was killed in the last episode of Angel, I got very upset.
However, Christian Kane has been reincarnated in a way. He now plays Elliott Spencer on “Leverage.” Instead of being an evil lawyer, Elliott fights the evil lawyers, politicians and corporations. Along with the rest of his team members, this former “bad guy” now fights on the side of good – or rather, their version of good. They right the wrongs that the law does not.
Whichever side Christian Kane is portraying, you have to love him. This guy is drop dead gorgeous – a rough and rugged build with a beautiful face and even more beautiful blue eyes.
7 – Sean Murray (Special Agent Timothy McGee, NCIS)
When Sean Murray first appeared on NCIS, he was very young and cute. You couldn’t help but love the stuttering, nervous McGee who fell prey to many probie jokes and mistakes during his first few years with NCIS. McGee was the target for many jokes and pranks from his team mates, especially Tony, during his hazing period.
Now, a few years later, McGee has turned into a very capable field agent. Not only is he very smart and techno-savvy, but he is also a good investigator and field agent. True, he still has things to learn from Gibbs and Tony, but he has grown from probie to peer in the past few years. Even though Tony still refers to him as Probie, he also calls him Tim now, too. The Probie will always be there, just as it is with Franks and Gibbs. It is an expression of fondness between a senior field agent and his trainee, that carries on through their relationship. But now the respect is there as well.
Yes, Sean Murray has definitely gone from Geek to Sheek in just a few years.
6 – Aldis Hodge (Alec Hardison, Leverage)
Another geek that is just too cute to pass up. Hardison is very smart and can do things technologically that most of us can only dream about doing. While doing these things, his wit surrounds him and makes us laugh. Charming, funny, smart, handsome – the very definition of sexy all rolled into one.
5 – Joe Montagna (Senior SSA David Rossi, Criminal Minds)
Another man who definitely ages well. David Rossi is smart. He is charming. He is a leader. He cares about the people he works with and takes care of them. And he looks good doing it. What more can you ask for in terms of a sexy man?
4 – Mark Harmon (Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, NCIS)
Since I am an older woman, I tend to pick the men who have aged well and Mark Harmon is definitely not an exception. The “Silver haired fox” as Abby has called him, has many women swooning over him on a Tuesday night.
And while the man who portrays this character is charming and witty, Gibbs is more quiet and serious – although just as equally charming in his own way. Gibbs, while being tough on his agents, can also be very protective and loving. These times are rare – Leroy Jethro Gibbs does not voice his emotions that often. When Gibbs does show his emotions, especially with Abby and Tony, it makes for the best scenes in NCIS history.
Gibbs is definitely the epitomy of manhood – with just enough sweetness to make him very sexy.
3 – Shemar Moore (SSA Derek Morgan, Criminal Minds)
Okay, what a body on this man is definitely the first thing I thought when I first watched Shemar Moore on Criminal Minds. When I finally managed to draw my eyes away from his rippling muscles, I found that he had a very handsome face to match those muscles. Double whammy!
While the outside is a very sexy package – what is inside is just as sexy. A very manly man who has a sensitivity that makes you melt. I sigh every time he refers to Garcia as “Baby Girl,” and I smile and get teary eyed every time Derek has a heart to heart with Spencer. What a man.
2 – Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester, Supernatural)
A manly man who is sensitive at times and has a heart of gold. Not to mention he is gorgeous Jensen Ackles (aka Dean) is one of the sexiest men alive, let alone on television.
His character, Dean Winchester, can rumble with the best of the demons. Yet he can also be very sensitive when it comes to handling other people, especially his brother Sam. And speaking of family, Dean is a very family oriented man. Everything he has done in his life and everything he will do later on revolves around his brother and keeping him safe.
Dean always tried to be the perfect son and now he tries to be the perfect big brother. Dean would give his life for his brother and the friends he has and this makes him even more sexy.
1 – Michael Weatherly (Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo, NCIS)
The hottest, sexiest man alive as far as I am concerned. And Michael’s personality is just as charming, witty and lovable as the character he portrays, Tony DiNozzo.
Tony acts like a kid and you wonder sometimes how he manages to get his job done. Yet, Tony always manages to have answers for his boss, Gibbs. And while his co-workers complain about his constant movie references, jokes and pranks, they miss him greatly when he is not around. The office just isn’t the same without the DiNozzo charm and wit.
While entertaining everyone, Tony manages to show us just how intelligent he is, how street savvy he has become and how well he can manage to round up a suspect. Tony comes from money, although he was cut off at a young age. He dresses in designer suits that make women drool as he walks past. But Tony can be just as handsome in a t-shirt and jeans – even more so in my opinion.
Tony was a very popular jock. Since he has gotten older, Tony either makes friends with people or they become instant enemies. There seems to be no in between for this man. He is passionate about catching the bad guy, taking care of his team (who is really a family to him) and helping others. While Tony tries to act as though nothing bothers him, he is a very sensitive guy.
Yes, Michael Weatherly is gorgeous. But that is not the only thing that makes Tony DiNozzo so sexy. The fact that he takes care of the people he loves – that he protects them both physically and mentally – while still having a sense of humor and compassion makes him even more sexier.
One side note – Michael Weatherly and Jensen Ackles are my favorite actors and I miss watching them together on “Dark Angel.” Still, I do not believe that I could give up the characters of Tony DiNozzo and Dean Winchester in order to achieve that goal. Maybe these actors could think about being on two shows at one time? Maybe they could be Tony and Dean during the long months and then during the summer break, they could revert back to Logan and Alec? Just a thought.
Well, this is my 10 most sexiest men on TV. Do you agree or disagree?
