As we all know the second movie from the Twilight series brought in some serious controversy among book lovers, when two males were introduced as rivals for Bella’s love and thousands of teenagers took sides. The story is based on a weak human girl that falls in love with a pale vampire named Edward Cullen. He is in love with her too, but struggles with his desire to succumb against his craving for blood. Edward’s family is composed by a coven of vampires; ironically, they are not blood related but all united by the same goal which is to avoid drinking human blood.
Bella’s good friend from childhood is a handsome werewolf named Jacob, and like in any other chick flick movie, he is the third corner of this love triangle. Jacob has a crush on Bella but she only has eyes for Edward. The plot begins to get complicated when Bella and her vampire friends try to celebrate her birthday and she accidentally cuts herself trying to open a gift, turning their strangely kind relationship into predators and prey. To make the story short, Edward realizes the nature of the beast and decides to leave town without Bella, leaving her in Jacob’s arms whose intentions are to romance her.
As you may or may not know, at the end of this lovely story Bella chooses Edward but in my opinion, Jacob would have been a much better choice and here are my reasons why:
What girl in her right mind would turn Jacob down? He has the most gorgeous tan due to his Native American roots; nonetheless, he has a skin tone within the parameters of an attractive male. On the other hand, Edward is pale and has the most absurd daylight feature ever known to vampires! He glitters, as if encrusted with tiny diamonds. Do you not see something wrong with that? I do! Let me put it this way: “no girl should ever, let me repeat that, ever have to compete with her boyfriend over sparkly skin. Even worse, when a girl has to spend hundreds of dollars buying shimmery creams to achieve the same effect, this contemporary vampire’s feature sounds more unnatural than Edward’s killing instincts against his girlfriend.
There is also a great difference in physique; Jacob is extremely muscular with well defined pectorals and biceps, and has abs to die for. Let’s not forget to mention that he likes to carry Bella in his arms, which is the ultimate definition of a classic, masculine way to transport a damsel in distress. While Edward is the antithesis of muscle mass but to be nice and keep the word muscular in a sentence to describe this scrawny vampire, I will classify his condition as muscular atrophy and drop a hint of chronic anemia too. His anemic persona is nothing but the result of a poorly nutritious diet that consists of blood only. Even though he is stronger than average, he is bound to play the part of an average human for fear of being discovered as the killing monster he truly is. However, I would love to know who was the genius that trained Edward to use piggy back rides as means of transportation. There is nothing romantic about that, and if I was Bella I would prefered not to be seen by anyone.
Please, don’t get me started on their sleeping habits. Why would Bella turn down the opportunity to share her lovely dream time with a warm chiseled body? Instead, she would rather let a creepy, albino, vampire stare at her all night. As romantically fairy tale as this sound, it is not her lovely looks causing his insomnia, as we all know, vampires do not sleep at night, duh!
Age is also a great factor in this case, you can get away with being younger or older than someone a decade or two just like Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, but nine decades is almost a century. First of all, Jacob is sixteen years old, barely a year and half younger than Bella, plus they grew up together and have more things in common than old fart Edward who is one hundred and eight years old (He claims to be seventeen but has been seventeen for the past ninety one years, denial!)
This is a typical case of blind love, where Bella had the opportunity to be with Jacob who is a great guy, better and healthier looking than Edward, instead she chose the pale, anemic, controlling, creepy, albino, vampire.
