I love salads. They are my favorite food in the summertime but I love them all year round. However, I admit that I am always searching for a way to purchase salads pre-cut and pre-mixed. It saves me time, money in unused product, and a lot of hassle.
While I purchase Fresh Express salads from time to time, I am not always pleased with the outcome. Some of their mixes include lettuces that should have been left on the cutting board. Others are stale or slimy. Plus, their blends are uninteresting and commonplace.
That is why I was so excited to find the Organic Baby Spring Mix by Taylor Organic at Sam’s Club. It contains a mix of baby lettuces, greens and fresh spinach; including my favorites:
– green and red romaine,
– lolla rosa,
– red and green leaf,
– red mustard,
– red and green oak,
– swiss chard,
– tango and
Now let’s talk about nutritional value. Three ounces equals one serving. That equates to about three cups of salad. Since the container holds one pound, that equates to about five servings per container.
There are 20 calories per serving; none of, which are fat related. This mix contains no cholesterol or sugar. However, it does hold 50 micrograms of salt and 3 grams of carbohydrates. Additionally, there are 2 grams of protein and 1 gram of fiber.
Taylor Organic Baby Spring Mix contains 80% of the recommended daily value for vitamin A. It also contains 25% of the required amount of vitamin C, 6% iron and 6% calcium.
I was amazed by the freshness of the salad greens when I opened the box. They were perfectly crisp and tasty.
I was also amazed at how well the greens held up in the refrigerator. I was able to use mine for about two weeks before a few of the greens began to turn.
Taylor Organic Baby Spring Mix can be purchased at Sam’s Club and BJ’s. I suspect that this bulk size tub may also be available through places like Costco.
At Sam’s the tub retailed for $3.99. At BJ’s it was a dollar more.
