This Survivor April 22 recap covers episode 10 of the Heroes vs. Villians season, in which the tribes finally merged and the drama heightened.
The teaser for the Survivor April 22 episode showed that the Heroes and Villains tribes would finally merge and that Parvati might get back together with Amanda to cross tribe lines and possibly create a new alliance. How did that play out in the full Survivor April 22 episode?
Survivor April 22 Recap: Fallout from last week’s tribal council
Last week the Villians voted off Courtney, after the Heroes inexplicably gave Russell their hidden immunity idol, mistakenly believing that Russell was on the outs of an all-female alliance.
Russell was instructed by the Heroes to vote out Parvati, but instead he voted off Courtney. Early in the April 22 episode, Russell explains that he plans to tell JT the reason Courtney went home instead of Parvati was because both Russell and Parvati each played a hidden immunity idol at the previous tribal council.
Survivor April 22 Recap: The tribes merge
The episode begins with the excitement of the merge, with the Villains heading to the Heroes camp. JT sees Parvati and wonders what happened, but then he sees Russell and assumes everything worked out.
Proving he is true evil, Russell swears on the life of his kids that he is with JT and Rupert. “He’s a good old country boy,” says a misguided Russell of JT.
“Hook, line and sinker… They’re biting everything I’m telling them,” Russell gloats. “This is gonna be way easier than I thought!”
Then, Sandra takes a walk with Russell and spills everything, telling him that Russell is running the show and not to trust anything he says. Rupert believes her, meaning that Russell’s diabolical plan could be in danger.
Parvati and Amanda have a private conversation in which Parvati reveals she has a hidden immunity idol. They talk about possibly working together at some point.
Survivor April 22 Recap: Immunity challenge
The newly merged tribe informs Jeff Probst they have chosen Yin Yang as their new name, because it means good and evil. It’s also one of the worst tribe names in Survivor history!
The challenge is simple – wrap your body around a pole and hold on for as long as you can. Sandra and Colby go out less than a minute into the challenge. Russell follows not long after.
The final four competitors alive are women. Parvati and Danielle are the final two, and Parvati, knowing that she has an immunity idol, voluntarily steps down. This causes Rupert to suspect Parvati must have an idol.
Survivor April 22 Recap: Tribal Council
Suspicious of Parvati, the Heroes plan to vote for either Jerri or Sandra. Russell gives Parvati his hidden immunity idol and tells her to save herself.
At an incredibly dramatic tribal council, Parvati pulls out both her idols and gives them to Jerri and Sandra. The Heroes are dumbfounded as their five votes for Jerri are discarded. Russell is even surprised by Parvati’s extra idol, telling her, “You have some explaining to do.”
All the Villains vote for JT, so the country boy is sent home. Rupert, Amanda and the rest of the Heroes seem to realize they are in trouble as JT’s ousting means they are now outnumbered 5-4.
As for how Parvati knew the Villains were voting for Sandra or Jerri, it seems likely that Parvati got the information from Amanda.
Survivor April 29 Preview
The Survivor April 22 recap ends with the preview of next week’s episode in which Russell yells at Parvati for not telling him about her second idol. Sandra appears to be an emerging power player, as she tells Rupert she can send home Russell if the Heroes cooperate with her.
It looks like Russell could be in big trouble, but then again, we’ve seen that before. Stay tuned!
