Stouffer’s Easy Express Three Cheese Chicken Skillet Dinner: Product Review

by itchyfish

On a recent grocery shopping trip, I purchased Stouffer’s Easy Express Three Cheese Chicken Skillet to prepare for dinner on the day of our return from a trip out of the country. I like to have an easy to prepare meal whenever I return from a vacation. Instead of cooking I prepare an easy to fix meal to quell the hunger pangs after a long day of travel and at a lesser price than eating out at a restaurant. As I looked at the stock of frozen foods, I was drawn to a colorful red package that had a real life picture of penne noodles and vegetables in a cheese sauce. Printed on the package were the magic words “cooks in 15 minutes on the stove top.” I was fully intrigued by this product and decided that Stouffer’s products are well known so I reached into the freezer and placed the product into my shopping cart. To further convince me to purchase Stouffer’s Easy Express Three Cheese Skillet Dinner, the labeling indicated that the product contained no preservatives, 0 grams of transfat and included flash frozen vegetables. The package states it serves two.

Contents
Stouffer’s Easy Express Three Cheese Chicken Skillet Dinner contains real chunks of white meat chicken, penne pasta, and vegetables, snap peas, red peppers and carrots with circular cut pieces of cheddar club cheese. I was quite pleasantly surprised by the REAL chunks of white meat chicken. You could actually see the chunks of chicken and it did not taste like cardboard. The vegetables were vivid in color and shaped perfectly with no sogginess or loss of shape. The rich cheese sauce is delicious and evenly distributed throughout the ingredients.

Directions
The ease with which Stouffer’s Easy Express Three Cheese skillet can be prepared is a real benefit. The stove top directions recommend using a non-stick skillet. If you do not have a non-stick skillet you are advised to spray the skillet bottom with cooking spray or you can coat the skillet with one tablespoon of vegetable oil. The simple instructions state that you pour the bag’s contents into the skillet, cover and cook over medium heat 8 minutes. Remove the cover and stir and continue cooking uncovered for 7 minutes stirring frequently and then serve. Voila! In 15 minutes you have a main meal or side dish for a culinary treat. It actually took 15 minutes to prepare and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the simply delicious taste. We were more than satisfied. The Stouffer’s Easy Express Three Cheese Chicken Skillet for dinner can be prepared in the microwave oven if you prefer.

Cost
The cost is a a bargain and easy on the budget and at a cost of $3.48 for the 25 ounce package; it was a real savings. The skillet dinner was on sale but even at regular price I would be willing to purchase Stouffer’s Easy Express Three Cheese Chicken Skillet.

Serving Suggestion
I served Stouffer’s Easy Express Three Cheese Chicken Skillet for dinner but it could easily be taken as a packable lunch for work to be warmed up in a microwave oven. I served Stouffer’s Easy Express Three Cheese Chicken Skillet dish with bread and butter but toasted bread or biscuits or any textured bread would be a satisfying accompaniment to Stouffer’s Easy Express Three Cheese Chicken Skillet. Although the package label states it serves two if you want seconds, I recommend cooking two packages. Leftovers can be refrigerated for later use in a stew, salad, etc. To extend the contents, you could cook additional penne pasta or add additional vegetables or cheese sauce for a larger number of servings without sacrificing taste or quality. In using this method, Stouffer’s Easy Express Three Cheese Chicken Skillet can be viewed as a “starter” for your meal, if you so desire.

I highly recommend Stouffer’s Easy Express Three Cheese Chicken Skillet. Stouffer’s makes Easy Express Skillet dishes in 13 varieties including such favorites as Yankee Pot Roast, Broccoli and Beef, Shrimp Fried Rice to name a few, all of which cook in 20 minutes or less with a homemade taste. I would not be embarrassed to serve this dish at home or away from home. I plan to try the other varieties and I will definitely keep Stouffer’s Easy Express Skillet Dishes in my freezer for a quick meal for those busy days when cooking is not an appealing option. Hats off to Stouffeer’s for the Easy Express Three Cheese Chicken Skillet. For a tasty product that is easy to prepare, easy on the palate and easy on the budget. give it a try.
