This StarCraft 2: Wings Of Liberty mission guide will cover ‘The Moebius Factor’ providing the objectives, achievements (The Moebius Factor, Alive Inside!, Hard Core) and a walkthrough of how I beat this mission on hard difficulty during my own play through to satisfy all these achievements. The Moebius Factor is the third mission in the Prophecy line in StarCraft 2: Wings Of Liberty taking place after The Dig. It revolves around the Raynor’s Raiders attempts to evacuate the Moebius Foundation after the Zerg attack them on Tyrador VIII while destroying a series of 3 data cores containing information about the Xel’Naga artifacts. The Moebius Factor will unlock the Medivac unit in StarCraft 2: Wings Of Liberty.
The Moebius Factor in StarCraft 2: Wings Of Liberty starts with a medium sized base under my control in the right middle area of the map. The Zerg Queen of Blades begins to make her path of destruction through the Moebius buildings, looking for the Data Cores in The Moebius Factor that will give her information on the Xel’Naga artifacts. While I’m getting my SCVs working on harvesting, building a second Automated Refinery (Unlocked through research. Check the end of this article for a link to my tech tree and mission order)
I add a tech reactor to my Barracks and at the same time 2 Medivacs show up, granted by the Moebius Foundation, dropping off 4 marines. Soon after in The Moebius Factor, 4 War Pigs, injured and being chased by Zerg show up at my base as well, turning to my control upon their arrival. A group of rescueable soldiers with a Goliath radio in soon afterwards, marked on the map. I use my Medivacs to bring them under my control, then use them to destroy the first data core from the safety of the high ground they stand on. I keep the Medivacs there to heal the soldiers as they get attacked by Mutalisks while they’re working on the building, which once destroyed, I load the units onto my Medivacs and bring them back to base.
Building an Engineering bay allows me to work on upgrades and a Sensor Tower to keep an eye on the surrounding Zerg, while I clear out the area in front of my base, to keep it in check. Matt Horner informs me a Nydus Worm has come up in front of my base, and I move to eliminate it as well, before it can spew out too many reinforcements. I go back to my base to train Firebats and add a tech Reactor to my Starport before rescuing the next group of rescueable soldiers on a ledge on the way to Data Core #2.
At this point I drop off my away team on the ledge with the rescued soldiers, and leave the Medivacs to support, while they kill Zerg from their vantage point as I work on my base for a bit. I add a Perdition, Missile Turret, and Psi-Disruptor to the ramp leading to my base, in order to stem Zerg attacks and allow me to keep my focus away from my base later on. 2 Science Vessels are trained for vehicle repairing and I mix some Marines and Medics into my Barracks queue. The Firebats having been fully upgraded at this time are potent Anti-Zerg and tanking machines, able to soak up damage and put down the horde at the same time. My Engineering bay begins working on tier 2 upgrades, constantly queued up so it’s never idle during this mission, while I train a few Vikings and build a Fusion Core so I can build a pair of the Hercules heavy transports I have unlocked through the Zerg research train.
I begin the attack on the next Data Core, sending only the Science Vessels out of my base to join the Medivacs still guarding my away team of Goliaths and Marines rescued, and picking up another group of rescueable soldiers on the platform of the second data core. I head back to my base to call down Mercenaries while the away team holds at its new position, with troops unloaded from the Medivacs. Next its back to the away team to start their attack, while I wait for a few more minerals to call down enough reinforcements to pack my Hercules full and send them to join the attacking group. Their ability to soak up tons of damage allows them to travel without escort, with repairs by Science Vessel at their destination. They can also load, and unload their units incredibly fast, meaning I can fly them straight into a base for a drop. Last but certainly not least, their destruction allows the units inside to still survive and fall out safely, albeit with moderate damage.
I load up all my units after the Data Core and fly straight to the Brutalisk for the bonus objective and Zerg research points, whom by now has been marked on the map for a while. Dropping my troops rapidly on the ledge allows me to kill the Brutalisk with few loses and in short time, then quickly loading everybody back up to move on out.
There are two more rescueable squads west of the Brutalisk and north a bit, one with a building with Alive Inside that once a Medivac soars over, the troops walk out of onto the roof, and the building just north of it, where 2 Marines and a Goliath wait. I pick them up and fly my Hercules straight to the Data Core, getting a few repairs from the Science Vessels before their attempt. They soar straight in and make their drop, allowing my army to clear the surrounding area of aggressors before focusing fire on the final Data Core, bringing about a rapid and surgical end to the Moebius Factor.

StarCraft 2: Wings Of Liberty ‘The Moebius Factor’ Objectives
Destroy the Data Cores (3): Eliminate the three buildings that will be marked on the mini-map throughout the mission. They are pretty tough, and will take some time to destroy without an overwhelming force. The last core’s destruction ends this mission.
Kerrigan Must Not Access a Data Core: Don’t let Kerrigan reach any of the Data Cores buildings. Her path is marked on the mini map, and since shoe does not know which buildings are the right ones, will stop to destroy each of the Moebius buildings along the way, giving plenty of time to eliminate toe Data Cores.
Kill The Brutalisk (Bonus): I suggest using overwhelming force to drop onto of the brutalisk since it’s power can rip apart smaller groups of units. Its destruction gives 3 Zerg research for this mission.
StarCraft 2: Wings Of Liberty ‘The Moebius Factor’ Achievemnets
The Moebius Factor: Complete all the mission objectives on any difficulty to unlock this 15 point achievement.
Alive Inside: Rescue all the Moebius survivors in this mission to unlock this 10 point achievement on normal or higher difficulty. Their locations are covered earlier in this guide.
Hard Core: Complete this mission before Kerrigan can destroy 6 of the Moebius foundation buildings on hard or higher difficulty for this 10 point achievement. It takes Kerrigan until about 17 minutes game time to destroy the 6th Moebius building.
