Those who suffer from acne may notice their skin becoming dry and flaky due to the over use of drying facial cleansers containing alcohol and other drying agents. The way to successfully exfoliate your acne prone skin and treat your acne is by using a homemade sea salt facial scrub. The sea salt helps exfoliate your skin while also killing the bacteria that is causing your acne. Sea salt also contains vital minerals skin needs to stay healthy young and glowing.
The natural ingredients needed to make a sea salt facial scrub for acne are 1 cup of pure fine sea salt, ½ a cup of honey, 10 drops of tea tree oil, and 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel. All these ingredients can be easily found in your local grocery store and possibly even pharmaceutical store. Sometimes they can even be found in organic grocery stores. I would recommend using organic ingredients when making this sea salt acne scrub because it will contain higher amounts of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.
The easiest way to make the sea salt facial scrub is by taking the 1 cup of pure fine sea salt, ½ a cup of honey, 10 drops of tea tree oil, and 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel and placing them into a plastic mixing bowl. After you will want to take a wooden spoon and combined the ingredients together until you get a gritty slightly golden mixture. If you find the mixture is too runny add more sea salt and if the mixture is too thick add more aloe vera gel. Once the mixture is made you can store it in a sterile glass jar with a lid until you are ready to use it.
Now when you go to use the sea salt facial mask you are going to want to get a large metal bowl and pour some boiling water into it. Then you will want to pick up the metal bowl carefully with a towel and place it on a table carefully. Next you will want to get a large clean cotton towel and place your head over the bowl just enough so the steam is flowing into your skin and face. Then you will want to drape the towel over your head and allow the steam to open up your pores and warm your skin right up for about 10 minutes. It is basically like giving yourself a facial. This will allow the sea salt acne scrub to work better on your skin. Just keep in mind not to get so close to the steam that it burns. You just want to lightly steam clean your skin and face.
After you have steam cleaned your face gently you can pat your skin dry a little bit and immediately go into the bathroom with the sea salt acne facial scrub and begin exfoliating your dry flaky acne prone skin. The way you do this is by simply picking up a little handful of the scrub and massaging it gently into your skin. It may burn, sting, or tingle but this is all normal because it means the ingredients in the scrub are cleansing all the nasty dirt, oils, and bacteria out of your skin. You will want to make sure you exfoliate every inch of skin on your face by massaging the scrub in circular motions all over. You should do this for about 2 minutes. After you can leave the scrub on your skin as a facial mask for 10 to 20 minutes to help dry out server acne or you can simply leave it on too help nourish your skin. Once you are done with the scrub you can rinse your face off with warm water until the sea salt facial scrub is completely off, and than you will want too splash your face with cold warm for a minute to help close your pores back up and seal the nourishment into your skin. You may notice after the scrub that your skin is slightly red, but the redness will go away within 5 to 10 minutes. After your skin will look very smooth and feel very silky. You may have acne still there, but if you use this scrub a couple times a week if should begin to clear up.
I hope this helps some of you acne suffers out there with dry flaky skin. I know it has helped me out a lot and I would recommend anybody with acne prone skin that is super dry and flaky too use it. I wish you all the best with exfoliating your skin and getting it clear and glowing again.
