There are many avid board game players out there, a great deal of which still enjoy the timeless classic, “Scrabble.” Scrabble is a very calm and relaxing game that is enjoyed by many board-game-loving couples on a lazy weeknight or a rainy Sunday. If you are one of those guys that plays a lot of Scrabble with your girlfriend and you are strongly thinking of marrying that girl soon, then a proposal is due very shortly. You then think hard and long about the “perfect proposal.” There are many proposal options out there, as you could propose during dessert after a fancy dinner; do it at a family event in front of her parents; get yourself on the jumbotron at an NBA game and propose in front of thousands of strangers; or even do it by simply slipping a ring under her pillow. If you have a strong love for Scrabble, you should abandon all of the aforementioned ideas and make the proposal relate in some way to your beloved game. Below are two solid options to consider for a “Scrabble Proposal.”
Before even requesting a game of Scrabble to your lady, go ahead and search through the letter tiles and grab the appropriate letters to spell out “Will You Marry Me.” After selecting these tiles, place them in a separate, discrete, and convenient location. Later on, as you are setting up a game with your girlfriend, tell her that you will finish setting up the game if she can kindly go get you something to drink. As she walks toward the kitchen, you quickly retrieve the aforementioned tiles and spell out “Will You Marry Me” on the board. Shortly thereafter, your girlfriend will return with your glass of water and nonchalantly glance at the board. She’ll be like, “What, you started the game without me?” She will then quickly do a double-take and realize what you have written on the board! Hopefully, she says YES! And hopefully, she doesn’t drop glass that big glass of water onto the floor! If so, neither of you will probably really care at that moment, anyways! The broken glass can wait!
THE LAST LETTER
Stuff the engagement ring in your side pocket and proceed to play Scrabble with your girlfriend. As the game nears an end and the “tile bag” gets closer to empty, you need to make a bold move. If your girlfriend is perhaps zoning out on the television as you come up with a word during your turn, use that “zone out” time to discretely remove the ring from your pocket and place it in the bag. Shortly thereafter, go ahead and put your word down. After creating your word, take the remainder of the letter tiles from the bag, leaving only the ring. Don’t worry if you are taking too many tiles . . . unless she is extremely hardcore and is watching your tiles like a hawk, she will not notice that you have 10 or 11 tiles instead of 9. She, of course, will then proceed to put a new word down. You then hand her the tile bag and say “Oh, only one letter left in there! I bet it’s a good one!” When she reaches in and removes the ring from the tile bag, she will be utterly shocked and excited! It may totally catch her off-guard, so let her catch her breath before she tries to say “YES!” Good game, sir! Everybody is a winner tonight!
