Scooter and Tooter: Looking for Love

by itchyfish

Scooter and Tooter are two little raccoons.

They live at the Happy Hollow Animal Orphanage.

This morning, while Scooter and Tooter were in the Happy Hollow Kitchen, they overheard Mrs. Busy Beaver talking to Mr. Wise Old Owl:

“All these little animal orphans need is some love,” said Mrs. Busy Beaver to Mr. Wise Old Owl.

“Whoooooo will show them?” Mr. Wise Old Owl asked.

Mrs. Busy Beaver continued her morning chores saying, “I simply don’t know!”

Scooter looked at Tooter and Tooter looked at Scooter.

“Surely we must find some love,” Tooter said to Scooter.

“Agreed!” Said Scooter to Tooter, “We will find love today!”

All of the little animal orphans filed into to kitchen to get their nuts and berries for breakfast.

Bonnie Bunnie munched on a carrot.

Sasha Squirrel grabbed an acorn.

Scooter and Tooter were so excited about their new adventure, they ran out the door without a bite to eat!

Down the path and up the way, Scooter and Tooter were off to their day.

Along the path they say Mr. Blue Jay pecking at the ground for seeds.

“Hello there Mr. Blue Jay!” Said Scooter.

“Good Morning to you!” Said Tooter.

“Well hello there kids!” Said Mr. Blue Jay.

“We were wondering’ said Scooter,

“Do you know where to find love?” asked Tooter.

“Love?” asked Mr. Blue Jay thoughtfully.

“Why, love is singing in the Babbling Brook while taking a nice cool bath!” replied the bird.

“Thank you,” said Scooter,

“Very much!” Said Tooter,

and off they were to find love, singing in the Babbling Brook while taking a bath!

Sure enough, when they got to the Babbling Brooke, there was Ollie Otter wearing his shower cap, using a scrub brush on his back and humming a happy little tune!

“Is this love?” asked Scooter to Tooter.

“Why, I don’t know,” replied Tooter to Scooter.

“We’ll just have to ask,” they chimed in together.

“Excuse me,” said Tooter.

‘We don’t mean to intrude,” said Scooter.

“Oh my! I wasn’t expecting any company!” said Ollie Otter shyly darting under the water.

A moment later, the otter came back up, a bit more presentable.

“Now, what can I help you boys with?” Ollie Otter asked.

“We are on an adventure,” said Scooter.

“Yes, an adventure,” said Tooter.

“We simply must find love before the day is through!” they chimed in together.

“Oh, I see! Well, if you ask me,” the old otter said thoughtfully, “Love is rolling around, playing on the grassy hills!”

“Love is playing on the grassy hills!” said Scooter to Tooter.

“Yes, indeed!” said Tooter to Scooter.

“Thank you Mr. Ollie Otter,” they said as they ran off toward the grassy hill.

It was beginning to get dark when the boys finally made it to the hill.

There was no one around except a solitary leaf floating across a breeze.

“Could we have gone the wrong way?” asked Scooter.

“We must have,” said Tooter getting a bit nervous.

“Do you know where we are?” asked Tooter to Scooter.

Looking around, Scooter said, “I don’t know where we are Tooter, do you?”

“Scooter….Tooter….” they heard someone calling from afar.

“Over here we are!” the boys shouted out, thankful that someone had found them.

It was Mrs. Busy Beaver and Mr. Wise Old Owl.

“You had us so worried,” the two grown ups said to the kids.

“We didn’t mean to make you worry,” said Tooter.

“No indeed,” said Scooter.

“We were looking for love,” they said together as they made their way back home.

Then the boys realized, they had been surrounded by love at the Happy Hollow Animal Orphanage the whole time.
