Sarah Palin is not excited about Levi and Bristol’s engagement, her daughter tells Us Weekly. Palin’s daughter, Bristol and her fiance, Levi Johnston, both 19, announced their engagement after Levi proposed about a month ago.
Bristol said her mother “doesn’t really approve” of their engagement.
“She’s apprehensive and concerned about this. She doesn’t want to see me get hurt again,” Bristol told Us Weekly.
Sarah Palin and Levi Johnston Have Had Public Warfare
A war of words has broken out between Sarah Palin and Levi Johnston publicly in regards to different issues. Last fall, Levi claimed Sarah had called her baby son, Trig, “retarded” because he has Down Syndrome. Her response to that was anyone who would be featured in Playgirl would “say and do anything for even more attention.”
On the Oprah Winfrey Show, Palin referred to Levi as “Ricky Hollywood” and said his “aspiring porn” career at the time was “heartbreaking.”
Sarah Palin Released Statement Over Engagement
After news of Bristol and Levi’s announced engagement, the Palins released a terse statement over the proposal.
“Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives.”
Bristol tells Us Weekly, “My mom is not 100 percent backing us up right now.”
Bristol Palin Told Mom of Engagement Over Phone
Sarah Palin learned of Bristol and Levi’s engagement over the phone after the two did a photo shoot for Us Weekly, to whom they broke the news.
“She knew Levi and I had been talking, but she wanted to know if Levi was really sincere about this,” Bristol said. “I told her we were working on our relationship for Tripp, and she told me, ‘Actions speak louder than words.’ She’s going to wait to see if he changes… But she’s just glad he is getting on the right path. She knows how much Tripp means to me, and she wants Tripp to have a father figure.”
Levi and Bristol Broke an Engagement Before
Bristol and Levi broke off an engagement before – two weeks after their son, Tripp, was born in December 2008.
“What I’ve done is starting to sink in, and every family member of mine has some concerns — and that is scaring me. My dad is on the same page as my mom: they don’t want to see me get hurt. They don’t want to see again what I already went through with Levi.””People are more worried for me than excited for me,” she informed Us Weekly.
Will the second engagement of Bristol and Levi be for real? Sarah Palin may be excited for the couple once she’s convinced her daughter’s best interests are in the heart of Levi. Hopefully he’s making a solid change to be the father Tripp needs and the husband Bristol can count on.
