As her marriage crumbles and Sandra begins a new stage in life as a single woman again, Sandra is also celebrating adopting a baby boy. Louis Bardo Bullock was adopted by Sandra Bullock in January, 2010. The little boy was in her life for three months before she made the news of the adoption public.
It has been the best and the worst of times for Sandra lately. She won an Oscar, her marriage ended due to Jesse James’ alleged infidelity, and now she has a new son. While she must miss Jesse’s children, she now has all the joy and responsibility of helping Louis build his life.
Sandra Bullock Adopted from New Orleans
Sandra tells People magazine “He’s just perfect, I can’t even describe him any other way. It’s like he’s always been a part of our lives.” Louis is age 3 1/2.
Louis is from New Orleans. Sandra and Jesse decided to adopt from that city after spending a lot of time there after the devastation of Katrina.
Sandra reports that Louis was kept a secret due to the media frenzy around her life as the Oscars approached. She did not want her new son to have to handle the glare of the intense media scrutiny.
She also seems to have made the decision to leave Jesse James’ home rapidly after his affairs became public in part to escape the media watching the house. According to the NY Post Sandra needed privacy for her new son. “All I remember thinking, I need to get Louis out of here.”
Sandra Bullock Shocked, but Moving On
Sandra is in shock over the demise of her marriage. She seemed so happily in love. And now she does not yet fully understand her new reality that her marriage was beset by infidelity and lies.
She said “Never in a million years did I foresee something like this happening. I wish it hadn’t, and it still doesn’t seem real,” reports the NY Post.
No one can predict the path of their life. Life very often hands some surreal surprises that require one to do a radical rethinking of what the future will be like. Sandra has a lot of change to handle.
A New Life Begins for Sandra Bullock
It is wonderful that Sandra has the joy of a new son during this tough time in her life. She is doing the good deed of adopting a son and giving him a life that will be stable and full of opportunity. Adoption is always a special act.

Jesse James Will Have Contact with Louis
Although Sandra is the person who officially finalized the adoption on her own, Sandra has stated that she does want James to have some kind of role in Louis’ life. She seems very respectful of his skills as a father.
So perhaps Louis will have Jesse James in his life. That will be pending how the divorce goes and what paths both of their lives take in the future.
