Bangkok, Thailand is loaded with exotic, romantic restaurants, and the nightlife glistens when the sun sets. If you need to impress your date with a romantic evening, then you have a large selection for romance and a sparkling atmosphere.
Here are a few of the most romantic restaurants in Bangkok for a special evening with your date.
Sirocco (1055 Silom Rd) In the 63rd floor of the dome on top of LeBua Hotel, State Tower, you’ll find Sirocco, one of the most romantic spots on earth. Dine al fresco in the outdoors above Bangkok, with a full view of the Chao Phraya river and all the city lights spread out below. Have a drink at the full round bar. It has a menu of Asian and Mediterranean cuisine, served with a lavish flair. The furnishings are first class, and many tables are placed aside in romantic nooks for you and your partner to enjoy a quiet meal “for two.”
Expect to spend $70 or more, but for a special romantic occasion it’s worth it. Opens from 6pm until midnight. Take your camera for photos of you and your date in this exotic, amorous setting.
Vertigo (Banyan Tree Hotel, 21/100 Sathorn Rd) Vertigo restaurant, along with its Moon bar, sit atop the Banyon Tree hotel at the 61st floor. This offers a starlit, romantic view of the city in an open air environment. Soft music will serenade your date. Wine cocktails, champagne and a seafood barbecue are offered along with a light menu of appetizers. Here too, the price is above $70 for a few nibbles and a drink, but if romance is the goal … it’s worth the price of admission. They have an extensive wine list too. Opens at 6:30pm; try to get there early for a sunset view, and call ahead for reservations.
Cabbages & Condoms. (Sukumvit soi 12, near Asok & Nana Skytrain stations) The name might throw you, but it is in fact a sparkling, romantic haven. The tables are nestled among trees in kind of a treehouse setting, and thousands of tiny lights blip up in the air and around the tables. From the cave-like entrance, and stairs to your table, it’s like a little hideaway retreat in the woods, but actually in the middle of a city. The menu is Asian food, with just a couple western dishes. The food is actually average quality, and the service is slow, but you’re there for romance, right? So enjoy a long dinner and talk with your mate amid a loving atmosphere. Only about $15 per person here, so your wallet won’t collapse.
Loy Nava Dinner Cruise. Step off land and onto a traditional Thai ship (Rice Barge), sail down the Chao Phraya River at night and enjoy the well-lit view of the Temple of Dawn and other stirring monuments. The Bangkok area waters are always glowing with lights. A romantic dinner on the water lasts 2 hours, and serves traditional Thai food with classic drinks or a house wine served in a carafe. A brief show with Thai costumes is performed during dessert. Departs from the Si Phraya Pier, and you can choose from the Sunset cruise at 6pm or Night cruise at 8:10pm. Price converted from baht to USD is about $51 per person and includes your boat ride and dinner. There is also a free pick-up service from the central BTS skytrain stations. Reserve online at least 2 days in advance. It’s a romantic evening on the river that your date won’t forget.
Also try the Baiyoke Sky Tower, if you like to dine even higher up. It’s in the city’s tallest building and offers a great view and dinner buffet.
