Valentine’s Day is long gone but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a romantic night on the town with your significant other. With Denton having a population over 100,000, and being one of the best (if not the best) college town in Texas, you’re guaranteed to be able to find some great restaurants.
The other side of that coin however, is there are a lot of restaurants in Denton, and finding a top notch romantic one may be quite a challenge. Hopefully, this is the part where I’ll come in handy.
Now, I’ve already wrote an article discussing some of the best spots for a first date in Denton, and yet another exploring some of the finest burger restaurants Denton has to offer. However, finding a romantic dinner spot is a different story. Honestly, I can’t say I’ve had a significant other to share any of these said dates with, but I have visited/drove by/heard about some fine restaurants that would set a great romantic evening in Denton, Texas.
All applicable links to restaurants will be provided at the end of the article.
Giuseppe’s Italian Restaurant
821 North Locust Street
Denton, TX 76201
I reviewed Giuseppe’s in my “Best First Date Spots in Denton” article already, but the more I think about it, Giuseppe’s is probably more fitting for a romantic setting, rather than a first date. Giuseppe’s Italian Restaurant offers a lunch menu and a dinner menu, but the dinner menu is much more conducive for a romantic night; after all, it is the dinner menu! Giuseppe’s offers your traditional Italian food (Vitello, Pasta, Antipasto, etc.) all at an affordable price. In fact, a two person dinner probably won’t cost more than $30 for the two of you.
Why Giuseppe’s made the list though, isn’t solely based on an affordable (and delicious!) menu though. First off, when you’re looking for a romantic dinner spot, it’s hard to go wrong with Italian food. Giuseppe’s Italian Restaurant is actually located in a neighborhood setting only a brief walk for Denton’s magnificent square, which can be a great end to your evening after your meal. The restaurant itself is an old house converted into a restaurant, so you and your lover will be guaranteed to not be bothered by all the hustle and bustle of a normal restaurant. Be sure to check out the pictures on Giuseppe’s Restaurant’s website to get the right feel of just how romantic this restaurant really is!
The Movie Tavern
916 West University Drive
Denton, TX 76201-1893
Ah, the good ole days of when you and your date were in the infant stage of your courtship. When the two of you started dating, I’m sure you were worried about where to take your date for the night. Chances are more than a few of those dates involved dinner and a movie. Now, I know you may not think “romance” when you think of dinner and a movie, but hear me out here. If you’ve been married for awhile or even dating for awhile, there’s a good chance some of that initial flare has worn off. Why not go to a dinner and a movie to relive those nights? Trust me; your date will LOVE it.
For the Movie Tavern itself, how can you beat getting dinner and a movie all in the same place? Honestly, that’s hard to beat. The food at the movie tavern is great, although maybe just slightly overpriced. But hey, when you’re getting your dinner and movie in the same place, what’s a little convenience cost? And even though it may seem slightly overpriced, you’re not going to be paying any more than you would for any other restaurant. Again, taking your date to a classic dinner and a movie will earn you some definite brownie points, and your date will absolutely love it.
The Wildwood Inn Bed & Breakfast
2602 Lillian Miller Parkway
Denton, TX 76210
When it comes to the Wildwood Inn Bed & Breakfast, I’ve heard nothing but good things. And besides, how do you get much more romantic than a classic bed and breakfast? If you decide to stay a night in the Wildwood Inn Bed & Breakfast, you might even forget you’re in suburban Denton! The atmosphere The Wildwood Inn has to offer is top notch, and I would recommend to anyone for a romantic evening. The Wildwood Inn “combines Old World elegance with today’s most progressive technology”, as the website states. In fact, you can even take a virtual tour of the Inn through their website. Can’t beat that now can you?
Reservations are required for The Wildwood Inn, and most of the time the Inn is only open on weekends. The food will run you about $20 per adult and $12.95 for children under the age of 12. The Wildwood Inn offers main courses ranging from sea bass to duck breast, all the way to beef and pork tenderloin. If you’re really wanting to impress your significant other though, I would recommend The Wildwood Inn Bed & Breakfast in a heartbeat.
