When you travel to Lake George, NY on vacation you will find plenty of motels/hotels and lots of the shops selling the same stuff. It is difficult to find any variety in the small, but beautiful, village. There is something different in Lake George Village, though, that you would not expect to find. It takes up quite a large building, almost smack dab in the middle of Canada St.
It is the House of Frankenstein Wax Museum, and it is much more than a museum filled with wax figures for you to take your picture with.
The location of the House of Frankenstein Wax Museum. Lake George Village has a street lined with shops and restaurants for tourists. This street is Canada St., and the House of Frankenstein Wax Museum has a prime location almost in the middle of the street, surrounded by all the shops and hubbub. Just walking down the street, you will find the House of Frankenstein Wax Museum and just might venture inside their doors.
When you purchase your ticket for the House of Frankenstein Wax Museum in Lake George, you are pointed to a sign that warns that the hallways are dark, that they twist and turn, and that the museum has unexpected surprises. It is the businesses duty to warn you of this to keep them out of trouble. Already, you know the House of Frankenstein Wax Museum is no ordinary wax museum.
What to expect inside the House of Frankenstein Wax Museum. Horror, death, torture, all the usual stuff. Only better. The hallways are dark but easy to follow. As you walk you will come upon windows with a sign telling you what you will see when you peer through the window. Each window has a scene of horror, with the figures moving on their own. Sometimes, there will be a glowing green button on the windowsill. A button you get to push to make a scene come to life, even talk(or scream).
As an added bonus, some of the hallways are more like a fun house, but you won’t know it until you enter that hallway or area. There are unexpected surprises around every turn, and all you can do is keep walking and looking for the exit.
See your favorite torture scenes in the House of Frankenstein Wax Museum. Some of the scenes you will get to see are Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Freddy Krueger and Jason, the Guillotine(complete with falling head), and the torture chamber. The torture chamber is surrounded by jail bars, and not glass, so you get a closer look at the wax figures as they are being tortured. There are many scenes throughout the House of Frankenstein Wax Museum, but one of the best is the electric chair. You control the criminal’s death by the push of a green button, and his screams last a long time.
The House of Frankenstein Wax Museum might not be for everyone. If you are getting squeamish just reading about the wax museum, don’t go. If the idea of seeing scenes of horror and death, even just in fun, does not intrigue you, don’t go. Small children will probably find the museum very frightening. However, if you love horror movies, and the creepy and macabre, then the House of Frankenstein Wax Museum will be your favorite place to be. In fact, even if you claim you don’t like horror movies, the House of Frankenstein Wax Museum still might amuse and entertain you. The moving scenes and wax figures are worth checking out.
A few things to keep in mind when visiting the House of Frankenstein Wax Museum. Yes, there are dark hallways and fun house type hallways, but rarely does anything jump out to scare you. It is not a haunted house. There is a worker who will wander the hallways, almost following you. This is for your safety in case you fall, or if you or your child want out. He will lead you to an exit. If anything, that worker is the creepiest one there because you are being followed, or sometimes you’ll come upon him sitting in a corner and he might accidentally startle you. They do not offer refunds if you get scared and want to leave without finishing the walk though the museum. They will give you a ticket to come again later. That might not mean much to someone who was too afraid to make it through the museum, but you were warned. Give the ticket to someone you know who would love the House of Frankenstein Wax Museum.
The House of Frankenstein Wax Museum is the most unique thing in Lake George, NY.
