Tired of ordering Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, or eating way too many frozen pizzas? Are you popping open Chef Boyardee cans so much, that your stomach gurgles sadly, pining away for authentic Italian food? Don’t fret, my famished friend! If you’re visiting Bayonne, New Jersey, and in the mood for delicious, expertly cooked Italian fare, stop by Piccolino Ristorante at 552 Broadway. After feasting on the tasty food, all those fast food formulated, store bought Italian dishes will be a distant memory.
Atmosphere
Patrons will be delighted to find a comfortable atmosphere – even cozy. It makes one truly feel welcome. You’ll be seated at sturdy chairs and tables, nicely spread out, on which formal tablecloths, napkins and place settings are creatively laid out to complete a fine dining ambiance. The low hanging ceiling fans, pleasant wall paintings, and the natural wood floors all combine and contribute to a place which helps one easily pass the time until your food arrives. The restaurant wait staff are all helpful, friendly, and most importantly of all highly efficient.
Menu: The Eats
In the Italian language, the word for abundance is abbondanza, and Piccolino Ristorante certainly lives up to that spirit. It boasts an abundance of good food, presented in a wide variety of tempting dishes. Whether it’s chicken, beef, fish, pasta or salads, this well stocked restaurant delivers something for every palate or plate preference.
I love chicken entrees and pasta, so I’ve regularly ordered the Chicken Burgundy and Chicken Tuscany. Both tasty dishes provide generous portions of chicken smothered in portobello mushrooms and burgundy wine sauce, roasted peppers and artichoke hearts respectively. The Penne alla Vodka satisfies pasta fans with a big bowl of penne pasta, swimming in a classic vodka sauce. For seafood lovers, the Coconut Shrimp must be sampled. It’s really wonderful. Big shrimp encrusted with coconut float in a savory, creamy brandy sauce keeps one coming back for more.
Summary
Piccolino Ristorante offers diners pleasing atmosphere, great, authentic Italian cuisine at affordable prices. The restaurant is situated in the heart of Bayonne, NJ, and is open from 11am to 11pm 7 days a week. The parking isn’t the best. It’s strictly park on the street where available. Broadway is a very busy main street, so it’s not always great. Aside from that minor inconvenience, this is one Italian restaurant which must be checked out by Italian food fans looking for good food at good prices.
