These days it’s hard to find a marketed product that is truly healthy and delicious. Kashi is a food brand that serves to provide both of these aspects of nutrition.
In existence for over 25 years, Kashi wants to promote healthy living by providing foods that are affordable an all-natural…This goes beyond just the cereal that many associate Kashi with.
Their TLC Original 7 Grain Snack Crackers are by far my favorite cracker brand in existence. The crackers taste amazing no matter what you eat them with, and 15 crackers only equals about 120 calories, with 30 calories from fat. For this serving size, there is only 3.5 grams of fat total, 21 grams of carbs, and 3 grams of sugar, as well as 2 grams of fiber, 3 grams of protein and 4% daily value of iron.
If you’re into snack or granola bars, Kashi has four flavors which are perfect for you.
Besides Raspberry Chocolate and Pumpkin Pecan, Kashi has two other delicious flavors. Dark Chocolate Coconut Fruit and Grain Bars are chewy snacks that have no high fructose corn syrup and only 120 calories per bar. In total, each bar has 21 grams of carbs, 4 grams of fiber, 7 grams of sugar and 4 grams of protein, as well as 6% daily value of iron. Their TLC Trail Mix Cranberry Almond Chewy Granola Bars run at 140 calories, 20 carbs, 4 grams of fiber, 6 grams of sugar and 6 grams of protein, as well as 6% daily value of iron.
Both products are naturally sweetened, and come with six in a box. The protein in the coconut bars comes from walnuts and crispy soy grahams, while the protein in the trail mix bars comes from almonds, sunflower seeds and crispy soy grahams. If you love crunchy nuts and pieces of cranberry, the trail mix bars are perfect for you. The chocolate bars are perfect for anyone who craves chocolate but doesn’t want to go overboard in calories with the standard candy bar.
Kashi also offers frozen meals, including pizza and pasta dishes which include seven whole grains and vegetables in each serving. Of course Kashi cereals are packed with healthy grains as well, and in one bowl of Kashi Go Lean cereal, you are consuming the same amount of protein in an egg, which helps you feel full longer.
Some of the most frequently used grains and sweeteners in Kashi products include annatto, barley, buckwheat, evaporated cane juice, expeller pressed canola oil, grape seed extract, hard red winter wheat, long grain brown rice, oats, rye, triticale and turmeric.
You can also use Kashi products as a base for other food recipes, such as using Kashi Go Lean Crunch to make a fruit and yogurt parfait, or Kashi Whole Grain Pilaf to make a Pilaf an orange salad.
