…It’s all about the experience.
If you like to create your own Asian stir-fry, HuHot Mongolian Grill & Barbecue may be the place for you. Although there are several locations throughout the United States, the Fargo HuHot is the one and only in the state of North Dakota, and I’ve been to it more than once. It’s a really neat experience.
Upon arriving at HuHot, you will be seated and a waiter will take your order. For the main course, however, you put your own dish together – and you can go back for seconds, thirds, or even more. So get in line and grab yourself a bowl!
HuHot Mongolian Grill & Barbecue: The Menu
The buffet begins with a meat selection, from which you can choose pork, beef, and more. If you can’t decide, you don’t have to limit yourself to just one type of meat! But, wait – vegetarians are welcome, too. In fact, HuHot won the Best Vegetarian Restaurant award of 2009, as well as the Best Ethnic Restaurant award.
“…choice is the key ingredient in attracting vegetarian customers… recipe cards are especially popular with vegetarians, and people with allergies also like HuHot for its broad selection…’we make the food the way they want it.'” Best of the Red River Valley 2008 – The Forum
Top off your selection with your choice(s) of pasta, but be sure to leave room for some veggies.
Creating a sauce is the fun part; there are sauces from hot to mild to suit your taste buds and you are allowed to mix and match your favorites. Five to six ladles of sauce is recommended for your HuHot Mongolian masterpiece.
Once you are sure you have designed the perfect dish, give your bowl to one of the cooks at the huge, circular grill. Now watch as they cook it up for you! If you wish, you can top your food with sesame seeds or lo mein.
HuHot Mongolian Grill & Barbecue: The Check
And the cost isn’t exactly outrageous; I don’t remember the exact price but, including a drink and tip, I generally pay around $18 for dinner. It may seem steep for just one meal, but this is what a typical dinner out goes for these days.
According to their website, HuHot is a “unique interactive dining experience for the whole family”. The Fargo, North Dakota location is open for lunch from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and dinner is from 4:00 p.m. until close. I would recommend HuHot over one of the China buffets (although there are some great Chinese buffets in Fargo, too!) to any family looking to have a good time together over dinner.
