Did you know there is a dedicated date on the calendar in honor of the chocolate covered raisin? That day is March 24 formerly known as Chocolate Covered Raisin Day. I do not need the raisin council or calendar to remind me how much I enjoy a good handful of chocolate covered raisins. The desire for this sweet treat is present throughout the year. I usually satisfy the cravings my purchasing a box of the ever popular nestle chocolate covered raisinettes or a generic facsimile sold at Walgreens or the local grocery stores.
Recently our family has been shopping at the ALDI food discount stores. These stores are located throughout the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia. ALDI keeps foods costs low by keeping their overhead costs extremely low for which the savings are passed on to the consumer. One of their more popular product lines ALDI carries includes the Fit and Active brand which includes pastas, cereals, fiber bars and several snacks. I enjoy several of the products under the Fit and Active label and recently settled in on a bag of Fit and Active Chocolate yogurt raisins.
Review of Fit and Active Chocolate Yogurt Covered Raisins – Taste
The minute we unloaded our ALDI’s groceries, I reached back into the pantry and opened up the newly acquired bag of the chocolate yogurt covered raisins. The raisins are plump and juicy with the right hint of chocolate. The chocolate yogurt simply tastes like a quality milk chocolate akin to the more common chocolate flavors of Hershey or Nestle. I was glad the chocolate did not have a “generic” taste as some off brands tend to do. These plump little raisins are a cure for the occasional chocolate craving.
Review of Fit and Active Chocolate Yogurt Covered Raisins – Packaging
The tasty little raisins come in a re-sealable white and gray package with a see through window. The ability to see the product prior to purchase made my decision to buy very easy. I like the appearance of the dark brown raisins and was pleased that they did not appear skimpy or small. The package also includes an easy to read green label which provide the essential nutritional product information.
Review of Fit and Active Chocolate Yogurt Covered Raisins – Price
One eight ounce package of chocolate covered raisins will run you about a buck and a half and be good for several handfuls to get your cravings satisfied between meals. The Fit and Active brands come in at low prices on all their products with the raisins being no exception.
I would recommend the fit and active chocolate yogurt covered raisins when looking for a cholesterol and transfat free chocolate snack. The serving size which equals about eighteen raisins is only about 140 calories which is much lower than the 180 calorie serving size offered by Nestle’s Raisinettes.
