Daphne’s Greek Cafe is a restaurant with locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, and Oregon. The menu at Daphne’s Greek Cafe consists of mainly Greek fast food items. This article will focus on the Daphne’s Greek Cafes that are located in Southern California. The other locations may have menus that are different, though the main foods should be pretty similar.
Customers should note that all menu items are 100% trans fat free.
For starters, customers can enjoy items off of a dollar menu, which includes hummus and grilled pita, roasted red pepper hummus and grilled pita, or what they call a Fire Feta and grilled pita. There is also soup that is available, including the lemon chicken soup, a classic Greek specialty. Soup can be added to entrees for just one more dollar.
You can also start off with a salad, such as the classic Greek salad, which also comes with grilled pita bread.
The main plate dishes include fresh carved gyro, roasted half chicken, crispy shrimp, and calamari. You can also order kabobs or a veggie combo plate, which includes spanakopita, hummus, falafel, and dolmas. A recent addition is the pita burger, which is essentially a burger that uses pita instead of the usual hamburger bun. There are also a number of lunch combos that are great for trying out a selection of foods. Customers may also wish to try out a pita sandwich, all of which come with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki sauce. Tzatziki itself is made of strained yoghurt that is absent of whey. It is a classic and excellent addition to Greek food.
For children, there is a kid’s meal menu. Each selection comes with a fountain drink and a choice of fries, Greek salad, or rice pilaf.
There are also a couple of dessert options available, including a piece of baklava for just one dollar.
The food at Daphne’s Greek Cafe is mediocre. The falafels are dry and flaky, and the meat is not all that flavorful. Granted, I have not tried everything, but generally the food tastes like it is fast food.
Also, the service could use some work. Each time I was at Daphne’s Greek Cafe, I ordered a piece of baklava; however, I was never served the baklava. I always had to go back to the register and ask for it. This may not be the case for other customers, but it is something customers should be wary of.
My favorite part of my meals at Daphne’s Greek Cafe is the hummus and pita starter. The hummus tastes good, and the pita is just so warm and soft. If you don’t go to Daphne’s Greek Cafe for anything else, just try the hummus and pita starter for a quick and healthy snack.
