The Country Inn and Suites in Oklahoma City was a wonderful experience for us. We chose this hotel because we had to be at the airport early and wanted somewhere close to it. This hotel was only five minutes from Will Rogers World Airport. It was located at 2415 South Meridian Ave in Oklahoma City. We stayed in one room with two queen size beds. Our cost was $84, but this was with a military discount. I felt like this was very affordable for a nice hotel.
When you pull up to the hotel, you notice that is a bit smaller. It does not look huge like some hotels do as you pull into them. We got out of the car and they have a very pretty area with water outside flowing over rocks. It is very nice and my children enjoyed it. As you walk into the lobby, the person at the desk was very nice. She helped us get our room keys right away. They have book shelves and a fake fireplace with a few places to sit down. The bookshelves are full of books with a sign stating that you can borrow them and return them to any Country Inn that you go to visit. I thought this was a nice personal touch. They also had some Otis Spunkmeyer cookies that were fresh baked out that were complimentary. I did not try any, but my husband ate a sugar one and said it tasted great! They gave us a piece of paper to put in our car showing that we were permitted to park there.
When we went to our room, we were very happy to see signs all over the hotel that it is a smoke free environment. I know many people are smokers or do not mind it, but for me this is amazing. I have allergies and the smoke really bothers me. I was excited to know that I would not have to worry about this at all here. The room was perfect to us. The beds were nice and the room was clean. We had a coffee maker, refrigerator, and microwave in the room. We used the microwave to make popcorn and it worked well with no problems. We placed some milk in the refrigerator and it kept it cool. The TV was a large flat screen that worked great. They did not have pay per view movies available, but since we had other plans we did not mind. We took a shower while there and it had great water pressure. We were able to get hot water all of the time, which is a plus for me. They had a shower cap, soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion in the room. I was impressed that these were name brand Pantene and Vaseline products.
We took the kids down to the pool area. It was a smaller pool that was not really deep. It got up to about five foot deep so I could touch everywhere. It had steps going down into it which was nice for my children. It was a heated pool. It was a bit chilly as you got into it, but not cold at all. It felt nice. They had a hot tub in there as well. It was nice and kept very hot. It did not have jets of any kind though. They kept chairs and tables in here for people just wanting to watch the swimming. They also had an entire area full of towels to use. It was full. There was a bathroom in this area as well. The pool hours were for children all but the last hour from 9:00-10:00 pm. I thought it was nice that adults had the option to use it without children if they wanted to do this alone.
We never heard a noise from anyone all night at this hotel. We slept well and did not have any problems. In the morning, we got up early and used the vending machine. It was on the first floor just down from our room and worked fine.
They had a free continental breakfast in the morning. This included cereal, yogurt, pastries, and bread for toast. You could toast your bread yourself and they had peanut butter, jelly, and other stuff to put on it. They also had two waffle irons set up with already made batter. You could make your own waffles. There was also a crock pot full of sausage gravy. They had a small area set up with hot bacon, eggs, and biscuits. The food that we tried tasted amazing! My daughter loved the miniature cinnamon rolls.
We checked out of the hotel early with no problems at all. There was always someone at the front desk to help you. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for somewhere to stay close to the airport. We will stay here again if we ever need a place to stay in this area. Celebration Station was only about a mile away and there were plenty of great places to eat nearby. It was a great experience for us at Country Inn and Suites!
