Republican Joe Barton’s Asinine Comments at Congressional Hearings!

by itchy fish

After watching Texas Representative Joe Barton speak at the hearings this morning, it was enough to make an American puke! He apologized for President Obama and the White House for their handling of the Escrow account for the BP Oil Spill. He called it a “SHAKEDOWN”. Then he went on for several minutes talking about due process and civil litigation and other normal justice procedures. He said everything short of calling the President an idiot. He said it was unconstitutional and was a travesty. Then he apologizes 3 or 4 more times, plus told us how ashamed he was of our Government! When Michelle Obama said something about being ashamed, she was lambasted to hell!

OK, so my question is, What would he have said, if President Obama had told BP, it’s OK guys, you are polluting our country, you were knowingly irresponsible, we know there was criminal behavior, but just pay when you can and what you can! Don’t worry about it! We know, you said, you thought about 20 million dollars would cover it, so just pay that when you can. Fight every single claim in court and screw the Gulf of Mexico residents out of every dollar you can, it will be fine. People who had no responsibility may lose everything, but don’t worry about! Make them go through DUE PROCESS! Even though many may not be able to buy groceries by then, make them pay them damn lawyers! They were at fault for living there and working there…no mercy….just take the money!

Capitol Hill would have been in an uproar. The Republicans would have revolted. So that tells me, it does not matter WHAT President Obama does, it will not be enough. Because this is an election year and because if Republicans even appear to be remotely supportive of him, that is the end of their career, they will fight him on everything he does. He could say the sky was blue and they would say green if that is what they thought their districts wanted to hear. Can the Republicans all be so blind, they would rather people suffer, just so they can disagree with the President? America doesn’t want that do they?

None of this is about the OIL SPILL! It is about elections, voters, and money. Our Southern US is being invaded by oil, put there by a company, at the very least, was criminally negligent, and WE have an asshole in office(in a Gulf Coast State) APOLOGIZING for our country because our President is trying to make them do the right thing! Are you kidding? What is wrong with Joe Barton? Is he so scared of losing his job, because Obama is a Democrat? Or is he scared of losing the $1.5 million in Campaign Funds he has received up to this point from the OIL COMPANIES?

Since this is not, as Joe Barton says, a normal case of possible negligence and should be handled through the normal procedures, where is the precedent for handling this. This definitely is something this country has never experienced. If you look at any oil spill in the past, there are none that compare. The Exxon-Valdez situation has multitudes of people still waiting for some money for claims. Why would we allow a company, trying to get out for a fraction of the cost, walk away and not start paying for damages right now? Why would we allow them to monitor how much they pay? Why are we going to put these people in the Gulf Coast through something that was not their fault? Something else on top of this disaster!

Government has long been too big! People in Texas should run Joe Barton out of town on a rail. He is too big for his britches number one and number two, he is getting paid by the same irresponsible people, he is apologizing to. Why wouldn’t he apologize, his bank account depends on it! President Obama should speak to Joe Barton about his comments. Shame on you Joe Barton! People are suffering because of BP and you want to make them wait for some help. America doesn’t have the money for disaster relief. With everything since Katrina that has happened, where would we get the money?

This is a disaster of mega proportions. We have never seen anything like this! America has been sitting by for over 57 days, watching and wondering what was going to happen. People in the Gulf Coast are scared to death for their families, their livelihoods, their communities and a way of life for generations. Why would the President NOT take this action?

What would the majority of Americans say about this? We know BP is trying to get out of as much as possible. What do you think? Do you think the President did the right thing by making BP start putting money out? Do you think he should have let DUE PROCESS take place at the cost of time and much money? It isn’t like we DON’T KNOW “WHAT HAPPENED & WHO IS RESPONSIBLE”! It isn’t a crime scene or an unknown responsible party Mr. Barton! WE KNOW SIR! Why not act now, before they try to get away with it?

What would America have said if President Obama had NOT done this? Tell me what YOU think about this!
