If you are the type of person that pays close attention to your skin and skin care products, you’ve probably heard about Retinol. Retinol is the “most active form of Vitamin A, Retinol aids in the resurfacing and rejuvenating of skin, helping to impart a clearer, more vibrant complexion for all ages and all skin types” (Retinol Resource Center). Retinol will help to renew your complexion by easing fine lines and wrinkles while evening out your skin tone. Retinol will penetrate deeper into the layers of skin than most other beauty products so if you’ve wanted a product that really repairs the skin, retinol is a great place to start.
The most popular form of this product is the synthetic based Retin-A which is available by prescription only (Retinol Resource Center). Retinol, the natural form of vitamin A, is available over the counter. Retinol got its start as a cream to treat acne but its skin repairing effects were soon noticed and it wasn’t long before it began to make an appearance in beauty products.
Afirm has two popular products available to the public. The first one is Afirm 1x. This product does not have a high concentration of retinol in it which is great for people that have never used a retinol product. The second Afirm product is Afirm 2x. This product has a higher concentration of retinol which will produce quicker results. You can find Afrim at DermStore.com, SkinStore.com, and Amazon.com. Before you purchase your Afirm product, be sure to keep in mind that beginning a routine with a higher concentration of retinol may cause some skin irritation, so be sure to start off light.
Roc Retinol Correction Deep Wrinkle Night Cream is another Retinol product that works wonders and is readily available. This product, unlike other retinol serums, can be found at places like Target, Walgreens, Wal-Mart, CVS, or any other retailer that sells beauty and skin care products. Roc also carries a smaller price tag than products like Afirm. At just about 20 dollars, Roc is a great beginner’s product.
Retinol is available in many forms. Finding it is not a difficult thing to do. What can be difficult is remembering to start off slow, to find a product tailored to your skin type, and to protect skin from the sun when retinol is being used. If you can remember these few simple things then you will find that retinol can work for you.
