It has been a very emotional year for the friends and family of Mitrice Richardson as they had false hopes the young woman might have suffered a mental breakdown and disappeared into the Malibu night only to resurface in Las Vegas.
And In a breaking news update: They have confirmed the remains founds are that of Mitrice Richardson.
But this may be the true ending to a very promising life cut short after Mitrice Richardson was arrested by the Malibu police last year and released into the cold night without cell phone, car or even her purse.
It appears she may have walked all night and collapsed or been picked up and met foul play.
The mystery is just beginning as to what happened to Mitrice Richardson on that terrible morning.
As you may have known if you have been following this story in my other editorial—-
( Here is the link if you have not read about her yet)
Mitrice Richardson was picked up by the police after she could not pay a restaurant bill at Geoffrey’s restaurant in Malibu only to be released several hours later even after she displayed strange erratic behavior.
She wondered off into the wilderness of Malibu canyon and never returned home.
Yet, the police in Las Vegas reported several possible sightings of a woman who looked like Mitrice.
There was even talk that girl( who resembled Mitrice) was working as a prostitute in the clubs and may have been mentally confused after some kind of psychotic break.
However, nothing ever came of it even after the family made emotional pleas for Mitrice to come home.
This may be the tragic outcome we hoped would never happen. Mitrice might have been suffering from acute bipolar disorder and just wandered confused and dazed for hours–possibly even days— until she met with some kind of harm.
It is such an unbelievable and tragic end to a promising life as it becomes clear from her diaries that Mitrice was hiding a terrible secret:. She was falling into a deep hole of madness which came to a head in Malibu without the police department realizing she needed mental evaluation right then and there.
If this is all true, what a terrible ending for poor Mitrice and her grieving relatives and a lesson for authorities not to take it for granted a prisoner has just taken pot or too much booze. Investigate before releasing into the
early morning darkness.
Malibu Police will have to take a long hard look at what happened that night. Their naive assumptions may have triggered this girl’s demise.
