The judges must have been watching different performances than I was last night, because I don’t understand the scores at all. Last night’s Dancing with the Stars left me scratching my head wondering what I was missing.
Len has been crankier than usually this season. He was stuck on the 7 paddle for most of the night, and previous weeks have shown more 6’s than I can ever remember in any season. Here’s how the night played out on the dance floor:
Dancing with the Stars Top 6 – Jake & Chelsea
Maybe because I’m not a fan of The Bachelor, but I don’t see what is so great about Jake Pavelka. He is clumsy (he’s tripped in the same place on the dance floor two weeks in a row) and there is no chemistry with Chelsea; she always seems mad at him. Their Samba did nothing for me, and they received all 7’s from the judges.
Dancing with the Stars Top 6 – Evan and Anna
Evan Lysacek was hot last night, but for some reason, the judges tore apart his Samba. While they complimented him on his artistry and fluid lines, they bashed him for not ‘bouncing’ enough for the Samba. I thought they deserved a 10 but, alas, they received all 7’s. That should shake things up on the Leader Board.
Dancing with the Stars Top 6 – Niecy and Louis
I have to admit, Niecy Nash is growing on me. I was really annoyed with her during the first few weeks, but she is working her butt off (literally) and she held her own with her Argentine Tango with Louis. For the first time ever, the Argentine Tango had humor in it, and even ended with Louis taking (and eating) her cookie! The judges loved it and rewarded her with three 7’s. Hmm, I’m seeing a pattern here…I think they should have gotten at least an 8.
Dancing with the Stars Top 6 – Erin and Maks
Erin Andrews danced a solid Samba with Maks, but I wasn’t overly impressed. Of course, Maks found a way to take his shirt off on the dance floor one more time. I like Maks (who doesn’t), but the rumored romance between these two is overshadowing their performances. Surprisingly, the Carrie Ann and Bruno were falling all over themselves over these two, and gave them 9’s, while Len gave them a 7 (big surprise).
Dancing with the Stars Top 6 – Chad and Cheryl
Again, not a fan of Chad Ochocinco’s. He is too cocky and more concerned with flirting with Cheryl than listening to her direction. The only reason he was excited about the Argentine Tango was that he got to bump and grind her throughout the performance. For some reason, the judges were impressed, and they received all 8’s.
Dancing with the Stars Top 6 – Nicole and Derek
No surprise here: Nicole Scherzinger and Derek’s Samba was in a totally different league than the other contestants. Super fast, technically difficult and exciting to watch. Len – aka Mr. Crabby Pants – must have fallen asleep because all he did was complain that there wasn’t enough Samba content for him. Seriously? Carrie Ann and Bruno thought Len was crazy, and their scores were all over the place: 9, 7 and 10.
Dancing with the Stars Top 6 – Pamela and Damian
I think Pamela Anderson is underrated and being under-scored by the judges. Her Argentine Tango, while not technically perfect, was a lot more entertaining than half of the other remaining celebrities. She works hard and always gives a credible performance. The chemistry between Pamela and Damian is hot, and I always look forward to their dance. Unfortunately, the judges were not impressed, and they received 7’s from Carrie Ann and Len, and an 8 from Bruno.
As for the Swing Dance Marathon, it looked to me like everyone was worn out from their earlier dances. There were a lot of lifts and flipping around of the ladies, but most of it looked just plain sloppy to me. Nicole and Derek were that last ones standing, which is at least one thing that was judged correctly last night.
Usually I’m pretty good at guessing what the judges are going to score, but last night’s Dancing with the Stars left me stunned. I’m no dancer, but from an entertainment point of view, I think the only ones judged fairly last night were Jake & Chelsea and Niecy & Louis. I can’t wait to see what happens on tonight’s results show. I just hope poor Pamela Anderson isn’t in the bottom two again. She definitely doesn’t deserve that.
