Surely you have heard the jokes and rude comments about Cleveland. Yes, Cleveland has seen some tough times like all major cities in this country, but Cleveland has something really special. Her people. They are an amazingly resilient breed and most Clevelanders love Cleveland. This is a great town, so pack away your misconceptions and negativity because we are going to cruise Lake Erie and the Cuyahoga River.
The Nautica Queen (Cleveland’s lake cruising boat) docks right downtown and is easily accessible from any part of Northeast Ohio. This is a great tour for locals or if you are visiting the area. The guest capacity is only 400 so you know that you will not be elbow to elbow with the other guests. The Nautica Queen has two closed in, air-conditioned decks along with outdoor seating which allows plenty of room for everyone. This also allows for cruising all types of weather.
You can experience a several options for your cruising. You can enjoy a lunch cruise from 12 noon until 2 pm, a sunset dinner cruise from 7 pm until 10 pm, a Sunday Brunch cruise from 1 pm until 3 pm or take a scheduled themed or special events cruise available at specific times The Nautica Queen runs almost everyday throughout the Spring, Summer and early Fall. Please check their website (www.nauticaqueen.com) for full schedule of availability.
All cruises include a buffet menu that is sure to make your mouth water. Lunch cruises include salads, vegetables and side dishes, pasta, beef or ham, chicken, catch of the day, breads, dessert and non-alcoholic beverages. Dinner cruises are similar except you can expect prime rib, pork loin and shrimp with cocktail sauce. The Sunday Brunch includes a carving station, French toast, breakfast meats, eggs, home fried potatoes, breads and rolls and fruit compote also. The service you will receive is exceptional.
Due to the size of the ship, please note that there is limited manual wheelchair accessibility and electric wheelchairs cannot be accommodated. There are stairs to get to the restrooms. You will want to take this into consideration if you have those special needs.
While cruising you will be able to enjoy the beautiful Cleveland skyline and it really is a beautiful sight. You will travel under many locally famous bridges and enjoy a view of Cleveland’s Flats area. I have taken several cruises on the Nautica Queen and have loved the sights and exceptional service on all of them.
Be sure to check out their website for their Special Events and Theme Cruises. During the summer months there are many options available which include, but are not limited to, Oldies Lunch Cruises, Legend of Lake Erie cruises, wine tasting, tropical dinner, and holiday brunches. There are special cruises available when the Tall Ships come to Cleveland and during the Cleveland Air Show. One year my family watched the Cleveland Air Show from the Nautica Queen and it was fabulous. If you are planning on attending an event such as this, you might want to consider attending it on the Nautica Queen.
