“True Beauty” is an ABC television series in which contestants are competing to see who is the most beautiful. While the contestants think they are only being judged on outer beauty, in reality, they are also being judged on their inner beauty.
The second season of “True Beauty” premiered May 31, 2010 with the contestants striving to become the “Face of Vegas.” The season two judges are Beth Ostrosky Stern, Carson Kressley and Vanessa Minnillo.
True Beauty – “Finding the Ring” Episode 4, June 21, 2010
Episode 4 involved two main challenges, creating an ad for a Planet Hollywood buffet and the hidden challenge, helping an assistant find her “lost” engagement ring. Amy, Erika, Taylor, and Michelle helped Emily look for the ring in the trash and passed the challenge, while Craig, Liz, and David did not help and failed the test.
True Beauty – Creating a Food Ad
The contestants had to pose nearly nude draped in food and create an ad for a buffet which would be judged on overall appearance, creativity of the ad, and the look of the final ad. The buffet ads were judged by Beth and Carson, who chose actress/model/singer/songwriter Erika Othen (who posed in ice cream) as the winner.
True Beauty – Episode 4 Face Off: Craig Franczyk & David Palmer
DJ/astrologer David Palmer (who posed with crabs) and retail manager Craig Franczyk (who posed with fruit), were the bottom two contestants. The two men had one last hidden challenge as well as an opportunity to plead their cases. In reality, it was obvious the judges had already made up their minds before the final challenge to say sayonara to David Palmer, “the contestant that continuously lets us down,” whose obnoxious cutthroat attitude and self absorption had already sealed his fate. Franczyk, who won last week’s competition but who had previously been caught on hidden camera along with Liz, Michael, and JD accepting a stolen item, was given another chance.
True Beauty – Episode 4 Shenanigans
During episode 4 of “True Beauty,” Craig Franczyk showed viewers his keen fondness for cocoa butter which he smears on from head to toe; model/bartender Amy Schmoldt lost some points for her lack of confidence; model/actress Liz Parada continued to be the disliked Omarosa of the show; and the others flexed and preened for all visible (and hidden) mirrors and cameras.
One by one the “True Beauty” contestants must face Beth Stern, Carson Kressley and Vanessa Minnillo as they learn “There’s more to the competition than meets the eye” and that “True beauty comes from within.”
“True Beauty” trivia: The opening song each week is “So Beautiful” by Christian music group, Superchic[k].
