Maybe it’s because so many “regular” folks are getting their 15 minutes of fame these days, but what’s up with all the reality star arrests lately? It seems that every few weeks another reality star is arrested or posing for a new head shot-er, I mean mug shot.
The Huffington Post reported that Jersey Shore star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi was arrested for disorderly conduct this month in Seaside Heights after having one too many tequilas. Snooki brushed off the incident, telling MTV News she was put in a drunk tank for a few hours. She also added, “I’m too pretty to be in jail.”
And this weekend Ronnie Magro, also of MTV’s Jersey Shore, was escorted off by police for……unpaid parking tickets. Aw c’mon, Ronnie, you can do better than that! Actually, this isn’t Ronnie’s first arrest- he also got busted last fall after a boardwalk fight.
According to Us Weekly, ABC’s Bachelor season 6 winner Mary Delgado was arrested for driving under the influence- again. The troubled winner of Bachelor Byron Velvick’s heart was arrested last week, adding to her 2008 arrest for public drunkenness and her 2007 assault of Velvick.
PopEater reported the DUI arrest of Rock of Love contestant Megan Hauserman in April. Hauserman’s own VH1 reality show, Megan Wants a Millionaire, was canceled after 3 episodes when one of the men vying for her heart committed a murder-suicide.
MTV’s Real World San Francisco star “Puck” Rainey was also arrested this year. According to Access Hollywood, Rainey was charged with a DUI back in March after a car accident that injured both him and his 8 year old son. Rainey was also slapped with a child endangerment charge as well as getting popped for driving without a license.
And Hills star Jason Wahler has been arrested numerous times. His latest was for slugging a woman this summer, but he’s also been busted for DUI, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and assault. Hmmm, now I see why Lauren Conrad gave up Paris for him.
Reality TV rap sheets are nothing new. Back in the caveman days of reality TV, Survivor season 1 winner Richard Hatch logged over 4 years of jail time after kinda forgetting to pay taxes on the $1 million dollar he won on the show. Oops.
Finally, Big Brother season 9 winner Adam Jasinski used his half a million dollar prize to launch a new business: an illegal drug ring. The Huffington Post reported back in 2009 that Jasinski was arrested after selling 2000 oxycodone pills to an undercover government agent. He was quickly scooped up by the Feds. Guess he didn’t expect the unexpected.
