It is Monday as we all well know. Mondays are generally hard days to get motivated on anyway, but since it has rained the entire weekend and is still raining today, I am just not in the mood to do anything other than sleep. I am even finding it hard to work on the computer and write because I keep wanting to nod off.
I have heard the old saying ” April showers bring May flowers” but seriously, if May showers do not stop the May flowers that the April showers brought may float out of the ground. I watched the weather this morning and it looks as though we will have rainy, cloudy days until Thursday. I hope that this is one time that the weather man is wrong as I am really tired of rain.
As most fans of mine on here know, I live in the country and I have horses. I can’t ride in the rain and I can’t haul hay in the rain, which I need to do today. I need to mow the grass on our 20+ acres ( not all of which needs mowed) or we may need a machete to find our way out. It seems that rain is the weather factor that is making for more bad news every time I turn on the television.
Look at the sad situation in Nashville, Tennessee where flood waters have gotten to many families and forced them out of their homes and they have lost all belongings. Central Indiana suffered the same horrendous loss a couple of years ago and people are still trying to rebuild their lives from that awful day. I know families who lost their home and could not rebuild on the same site or have the home fixed due to no flood insurance or the county changed how high they needed to be built and the expense was to much. They are currently waiting for a federal or state buyout of the land and home and yet they have had to make due for 2 years in an economy that is hard to face with a home and your belongings. The rain took advantage of them and now the government is too. What about justice?
Rain in the country equals one thing= MUD!!! Yes, it is muddy. Everywhere you turn there is a puddle of water or a pudle of mud! It makes walking almost impossible and it makes for a sloppy driveway and very sloppy fields. It seems as though it just never improves until it is raining again. The mud tracked into my house in a day could supply a mudbath company for several years, I believe. It is so muddy that my pig is tired of mud!
Brad Paisley has a new song titled Water and my daughter ( who is a huge Brad Paisley fan) told me the other day that she didn’t like it and once I heard it today, I thought the same thing. It just seems like we are being saturated with rain. I really would not mind some of a drought this summer as we had a lot of rain last year too. A few dry days in a row would be a welcome sight right now.
Well, I hope every one is enjoying their Monday better than me and I do not wish you any rain. Just remember me if you are getting it as maybe I won’t be.
