Everyone loves getting away for a while and going on a vacation. However, not everyone enjoys the planning and packing aspect of a vacation. Packing takes time and effort, and sometimes it even takes concentration to figure out exactly what you might want to wear on vacation. When planning out what you will pack and the act of packing itself, you may want to keep these tips in mind.
Packing Tip #1: Save space with fewer shoes.
Try to plan out your outfits in order to pack the least amount of shoes possible. As great as shoes are, they take up a lot of space in a suitcase. You will be able to get more into your suitcase by packing fewer shoes. A great idea is also to wear a versatile shoe as you start your vacation and you may not even have to pack any shoes other than the ones you have on your feet.
Packing Tip #2: Pack by outfit.
It can be a real bummer when you can’t find the outfit in your suitcase that you planned to wear for a specific occasion on your vacation. It may be helpful for you to pack your outfits in the order you may need them to make it easier for you to find any one particular item. For instance, if you are taking a late flight to your destination and will simply be going to bed as soon as you arrive, pack your pajamas on top. This will eliminate the hassle of trying to find them when you simply want to go to bed.
Packing Tip #3: Ziploc your way to wrinkle-free outfits.
If you are going on a trip where you may not have an iron, you can fold each outfit into a Ziploc bag to reduce or maybe even eliminate wrinkles depending on the piece of clothing. If you need extra space in your luggage, this may also be a good tip to give you more space.
Packing Tip #4: Pack extra in your carry-on just in case.
One of the worst things that can happen at the start of your trip is to have the airlines lose your luggage. In case anything happens to your checked luggage, it may be beneficial to pack an extra change of clothes and maybe your toiletries in your carry-on luggage. This will ensure that you can at least go one day without your luggage to (hopefully) give the airlines enough time to get things sorted out.
Packing Tip #5: Go with the flow.
You can pack just about everything and still be unprepared for what comes your way on a vacation. Therefore, try not to over pack because it may not be worth it. Pack the essentials. You can always buy what you may have forgotten. Do not let something as silly as the fact that you forgot the toothpaste ruin your trip.
Happy packing, and enjoy your vacations!
