Puzzle’s Fun Dome Offers the Biggest Variety of Inflatables in Louisville, Kentucky!

by itchyfish

Puzzle’s Fun Dome’s 22,000 square foot facility in Louisville, Kentucky offers a wide variety of air blown inflatables, including castle inflatables, inflatable slides and inflatable jumpers. Because of these attractions and other entertainment options in the facility, Puzzles provides an affordable and enjoyable destination for children ages two to 12.

Basics

Puzzle’s is housed in a large complex in eastern Louisville on Bluegrass Parkway. In addition to its inflatables, it offers mini golf, rock climbing, arts and crafts, arcade games, a movie theater and a small playground. Puzzle’s is especially popular on weekends and during spring and summer break.

I most recently visited Puzzle’s in July, 2010, with my two daughters, ages four and one. I designed the trip for my older daughter, as she loves inflatable jumpers and slides, but I was hopeful that my younger daughter would enjoy herself as well.

Layout

Puzzle’s features just one entrance and exit right beside the customer service desk. Puzzle’s website claims that employees monitor six security cameras during operating hours. The overall environment is safe and welcoming, although the facility resembles a cavernous warehouse. The air conditioning was apparently not working during my last visit.

General admission allows access to the arts and crafts center, playground and inflatables area. Mini golf, rock climbing, arcade games and “Cosmic Hoops” (a glow-in-the-dark basketball game) are all available for an additional fee.

The inflatables are located in the back of the facility. During our most recent visit, Puzzle’s offered an inflatable jumper, an inflatable slide, a small inflatable maze and an odd air blown inflatable basketball game that was too difficult for the majority of children in attendance. From our previous visits, I know that Puzzle’s rotates these attractions every few months. In the past, they have offered inflatable school buses and castles, as well as a cool sticky wall involving kids dressed in Velcro suits.

The middle of the facility contains the nine-hole mini golf course, while the front of the complex offers the arts and crafts center and other attractions.

Pros

My older daughter did not stay in the inflatables area for more than ten minutes, but she absolutely loved the small playground with a fairly large slide. I chased her through the playground a dozen times! My mother joined us and watched my younger daughter. My older daughter also loved the mini-golf and could not stop talking about it on the way home. My baby just enjoyed crawling up a ramp in the playground area. She is low maintenance.

Cons

Puzzle’s has a daycare facility, and at various times during the afternoon a horde of kids would rumble through the various areas. They were relatively well behaved, but they monopolized most of the arts and crafts area. Also, did I mention the broken air conditioning?

General Information

General admission for children two and up is $6.99 during the week and $9.99 on weekends and school breaks. Adults, senior citizens and children under one are admitted free. The rock wall, mini golf and Cosmic Hoops are all $3.50 per person. Most arcade games are $.25 per play. Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. – 10 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 10 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Puzzle’s address is 11530 Bluegrass Parkway, Louisville, Kentucky, 40299. You can reach Puzzle’s at (502) 261-7144 or puzzlesfundome.com.

If your child loves inflatables, mini golf, or just running around an indoor playground, I would suggest you try Puzzle’s Fun Dome. As a parent, I appreciate the value and variety of attractions. I just hope the air conditioning is working when you visit!
