For the past year I have been dealing with sinus infections and ear infections, and the last round of antibiotics I was on didn’t seem to clear up the infections. I couldn’t get into my doctor right away, so I started taking 12 hour Sudafed, using a Neti Pot, and wearing the Pure Body Soothing Gel Eye Mask.
The first eye mask I purchased contained spearmint, peppermint and eucalyptus, but I could not wear it on my face because it made my eyes water and burn. I took it back to the store and purchased this Pure Body style eye mask.
The mask itself is shaped like one that Robin, Batman’s partner, used to wear. It is made of a soft, pliable clear plastic, and is filled with a purple colored gel. The package came taped up, and my first one had a flaw in it so I had to return it to the store for another. There was a small hole at the very top of the mask, and the purple gel came out of it before I even heated it up in the microwave. Why wasn’t I surprised when I saw that this product was made in China? I was very frustrated to say the least, this means I now had to go to the store three times to get a soothing mask for my sinus cavities!
There are directions on the back of the package, stating that it can be heated in the microwave for up to 15 seconds, or you can also soak it in hot water for 5-10 minutes if you don’t have a microwave, or if you are worried about the microwave damaging the mask. A second way to use this mask is to stick it in the freezer for 10-15 minutes or in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes. I have not used it cold, only hot.
Like any mask of this sort, there are straps that connect it to the back of the head with long strips of Velcro. These long strips makes the mask adjustable for small or large heads, and it holds the mask firmly in place on the face.
I find that heating the Pure Body Soothing Gel Eye Mask for about 20 seconds is the perfect amount of time, but I check it to make sure it is not too hot. If you got this gel too hot I assume it could actually burn your skin, so I am very careful when it comes to heating it up.
Each eye hole is plenty large so that I can see out of the mask while wearing it. I enjoy heating it up, then watching television while I let the warmth of the mask soothe my painful sinus’s. It will stay warm for about 10 minutes, and I find that I get more relief if I actually push the heated gel into my sinus’s, but the gel does move around freely within the plastic pouch of a mask.
This has brought me relief from sinus pain, and along with the other remedies I have found, I have been able to put off seeing the Dr. until my next appointment, which is tomorrow. The Pure Body Soothing Gel Eye Mask was inexpensive, it retailed for only $4.99, and it sure is worth the money!
