As a person whose veins are fueled by salad dressing, ketchup, mayonnaise and mustard, I am always trying out new condiments. Some have been good, some have been great, but the latest condiment I sampled is WOW! A new company, “Monarch Honey Mustards,” has four different honey mustard sauces, two of which I gave a try.
I sampled Monarch’s Creamy Honey Mustard and was impressed with it’s creamy texture. The consistency is that of mayonnaise, maybe a bit thicker, just right for a sandwich spread. I definitely detected a hint of sweetness from the honey– the other ingredients, I can only guess. None of the ingredients are preservatives however, as Monarch Honey Mustards are made with only natural ingredients. I tried the Creamy Honey Mustard on Kielbasa and substituted it for mayonnaise with chicken salad–wonderful!
The flavor of Monarch’s Triple Honey Mustard reminds me of Subway’s Sweet Onion Dressing, but with a little more twang. They suggest drizzling it over chicken strips, which I did–oh yeah! This is absolutely my favorite sauce. Sorry Boss Sauce, we must part.
The two other honey mustards available from Monarch are bourbon and jalapeno. I haven’t tried either of these. The price for a 4- ounce jar is $4.00. No, it is not cheap. I can pick up a jar from the grocery store for half that price, but it will taste half that price. And Monarch leaves out the junk you don’t need–the artificial flavors and preservatives!
