So I purchased a couple of eye shadows from Mark Cosmetics. If you haven’t heard of Mark, Mark is a cosmetic line made by Avon. The line has been created in 2002, and is geared toward women between the ages of 16 and 25. Although it’s geared toward the youth, a lot of women of all ages love their products.
I actually used to sell Mark from ages fifteen to eighteen, and it was a cool experience. Anyway, I purchased these eye shadows in Magic (a shimmery blue green) and Retro Peacock (a dark blue with green undertones). They are $4 each.
When I first used these eye shadows, I loved the color, but I hated the texture. The powders are very fine. It’s not very powdery. It’s like little coarse shimmer crystals, so when I applied it, all these eye shadow crystals were flaking off and dusting all over my skin. I couldn’t control it. Every time I brushed the eye shadow across my lid, the dust flew in every direction. For a long time, I struggled to apply the eye shadow properly.
I finally figured out the problem. I was holding my eye shadow brush wrong. I was using the tip of the brush when it is best to use the side. I coated both sides of the brush until I had all the bristles covered. Then I carefully brushed the shadow across my lid. It definitely went on much smoother and didn’t dust all over the place.
The more I used it, the better I became at applying it. Now, I don’t have any problem with it. I also reshaped the eye shadow brush I was using. I took a scissors and trimmed it so that it can have a more round tip than a squared tip. The eye shadow applied better with a rounder shaped brush.
As far as the color, Magic was a great color, but it didn’t have enough pigment for me. To me, it was made of sheer blue green sparkles, which brightened my eyes, but did very little for color. It just wasn’t very flattering. I mixed it with some green cream eye shadow, and I use it that way. The Retro Peacock is untouchable. It’s perfect. I always use it to do my “smoky eye” look. Its dark, it’s beautiful, and it has an undertone of green which makes it more glam. I love it.
