Using pink to create a new makeup look is a great way to shake up your normal makeup routine. Pink shades create a romantic, sexy, healthy glow that is absolutely irresistible. However, you must know what shades work for you to keep from looking more “cotton candy” than sultry woman.
Pink makeup can work on anyone so don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone and experiment with the trend. If you have light skin, be sure to stick with soft pinks (Cosmopolitan, 2010). Use a blush like Bobbi Brown’s Powder Blush in Pale Pink. The color in the container can be a bit unnerving but goes on soft and pale. Next, find a shade of pink for your eyes. Maybelline’s Eye Studio Color Pearls Eyeshadow in Carbon Frost is a beautiful shade. Use just the pink section for a muted look and use the dark half of the eyeshadow when a dramatic look is desired. Finally, find a lip gloss that pulls the look together. Try using Sally Hansen’s Diamond 12 Hour Lip Treatment in Engaging or in Gem. These lip glosses have just the right amount of shine to draw attention to the look without making the pink look overpowering.
If you have medium skin, be sure to choose pinks that have a slightly brown tint (think rose or champagne) (Cosmopolitan, 2010). You want your pink to have a brown undertone so that it meshes with your skin well. For the cheeks, try using something like Neutrogena’s Healthy Skin Blends Sheer Highlighting Blush in Fresh 20. There is a great mix of shades that blend well together for those people with medium skin tones. For your eyes, try Urban Decay’s Shotgun which is a perfect rose shade with just enough sparkle to draw the good kind of attention. For lips, try a lip gloss with a berry tone like Nar’s Stella.
Dark skinned ladies should stick with “fruity” pinks (Cosmopolitan, 2010). For your cheeks, try an apricot shade like Bobbi Brown’s Blush in Apricot. Ladies with dark skin can get away with bolder shades so don’t be afraid to experiment! For eyes try Urban Decay’s Woodstock. It is the perfect mix of both pink and berry. For lips, pick up some Covergirl ShineBlast Lip Gloss in Radiate (Cosmopolitan, 2010). I am a huge fan of Covergirl’s ShineBlast Lip Glosses because they have the perfect mix of color and shine.
Pink makeup can be worn by every woman if you know what shades work for you. Now that you do, go out and wear your flirtatious, romantic, and sweet pink look everywhere you go! You’re going to turn heads.
