Gross Motor Activity for Preschool Memorial Day Lesson Plan
This is the simplest of large motor activities, but totally appropriate for a Memorial Day lesson plan. Give each child a small flag on a stick. Play a recording of You’re a Grand Old Flag, or another patriotic song with a marching beat, instructing the students to march in place and wave their flags in the air. You might also put on a quick parade through other classrooms.
Art Center Activity for Preschool Memorial Day Lesson Plan
Flag hats are an art project that students will be able to enjoy wearing with pride throughout the Memorial Day weekend.
Very simple to construct, flag hats require:
red construction paper
white construction paper, one strip per student and 3-5 stars per student
blue construction paper, cut in long strips
The base of the hat is made of a strip of blue construction paper fitted to each child’s head, the ends of the paper stapled. The upper portion of the flag hat is made of a rectangular piece of red construction paper. Have the students glue a strip of white paper down the center of the red rectangle, vertically. At the base, have them glue a strip of blue construction paper. On the blue, have your students glue the white star shapes. Attach the rectangle to the hat base.

Pre-math Center Activity for Preschool Memorial Day Lesson Plan
Supply your pre-math center with blank sheets of blue paper, each labeled with a different number 1-10, 1-20 for pre-K students. Also, provide star stickers. Instruct your students to place the corresponding number of stars with the number on the sheet of paper. If you like, you might section off the paper and place several numbers on one sheet.
