M is for monkey! Take some time to talk about monkeys with your preschool students. Information about monkeys can be found here and here. A coloring picture of a monkey can be found here. Have your preschool students color the monkey black and trace the word monkey beneath the picture. Remind them throughout the lesson that the word monkey starts with the letter M.
Note: Keep the finished coloring pictures to add to an Alphabet Animals book that your preschool students can put together after you have studied all of the letters A-Z.

Art Activity for Preschool Alphabet Lesson Plan: Letter M
Colorful mangoes: Give each of your students an oval cut from a sheet of white paper. Also, set out watercolor paints, paint brushes and cups of water. Instruct your students to paint the ovals with red, yellow and green paints. Mangoes are made up of all or one of these colors at any given time. Show your students a real mango or pictures of mangoes.
Letter Recognition for Preschool Alphabet Lesson Plan: Letter M
Provide your students with a sheet of paper (cut in the shape of an oval) printed with several letters of the alphabet. Let your students use a pencil or a black crayon to circle all of the letters M and m that they find.
Sensory Activity for Preschool Alphabet Lesson Plan: Letter M
Mustard finger painting: Let your preschool students paint on a white sheet of paper with mustard! They will have the opportunity to use all of their five senses, even hearing. They will hear the air and mustard burst through the mustard bottle, see the yellow mustard, smell, touch and even taste the mustard! Have your students practice making the M sound as they finger paint with mustard. Remind them that the word mustard starts with the letter M.
