Pine Forge Academy: An African-American Private School

Pine Forge Academy is located in Pine Forge, Pennsylvania. Centered in the heart of Berks County, the campus is 575-acres of hills and dales along Manatawny Creek. The land is historical property of Thomas Rutter, an abolitionist iron miller. William Penn deeded the property to Rutter in the 1700s.

Pine Forge Academy is a co-ed Seventh-day Adventist boarding school for grades 9th through 12th. This historical African-American boarding school first opened its doors on September 9, 1946. The school is now owned and operated by Allegheny East Conference Corporation of Seventh-day Adventists.

Pine Forge Academy provides Christ-centered curriculum in a safe and caring environment. They prepare their students spiritually, intellectually, physically, and socially for service to God and society.

Residence halls are equipped with televisions, exercise space, and a laundry rooms. Athletic programs include, but not limited too girl/boy basketball, co-ed cross country, and tennis. Pine Forge Academy organizes social events and activities, for example, day trips to amusements parks, hiking, bowling, swimming, and roller-skating. The academy allows the students to have formal banquets for socializing.

Pine Forge Academy has an advanced curriculum. The school has ten major academic departments; applied arts, bible, business, fine arts, foreign language, history, language arts, mathematics, physical education, and science. Applied arts include classes in computer applications, keyboarding, and industrial arts. The fine arts department gives courses in drama, music, and art. Mathematics and Science divisions offer exceptional education in algebra, calculus, chemistry, and physics.

Pine Forge Academy does not offer financial aid, yet they do provide parents with resources to cover the cost of a private education. Scholarships and a work-study program assist children from a modest income family. Tuition to attend Pine Forge Academy is $16,250 a year. The fee includes room and board. Extra fees apply depending on your child’s class schedule and activities.

A private high school education is expensive, but your child will be exposed to a high level of education with Christian values. Pine Forge Academy has five stars on Greatschools.org. The parents rave about how happy their kids are at the academy. Parents also mention that they are impressed by their children’s renewed interest in God.
