As Israel grazes headlines this week, it reminds the rest of the world of the tension that exists in the Middle East. Democrats speak of the conflict as though it were a simple equation; offering solutions here and there. However, in their treatment of the Middle Eastern conflict, the Democratic Party has shown their true naiveté. The truth of the matter is that there is no “fix” for the conflict between Israel and the Arab world because the conflict does not exist over a simple matter. Though media channels and politicians will state that the roots of the problem reside in issues such as territory, religious tension, and persecution, they are very much mistaken. The roots of the issue reside within two very simple truths; the media is forever set against Israel and the Arab world has sworn Israel’s destruction.
Any way you look at it, Israel is the lone democracy amidst antiquated and theocratic governments. When Israel was originally formed, the land that it inherited was uncultivated, undeveloped and empty. It was essentially a wasteland. During Israel’s occupation of the territory, Israel has turned a piece of land the size of New Jersey into the most prosperous and beautiful destinations in the Middle East. This is a country that has the highest literacy rate per capita. Israel also has the highest rate of publishing scientific papers per capita. If we take a closer look at Israel, we see that it doesn’t just preach equality, it delivers it. Both men and women serve as equals in the IDF (Israel Defense Force) and have equal opportunities for employment.
I did not just note these facts to brag about Israel. I noted them to compare with the Middle Eastern nations that seek to destroy the Israeli state. What have they accomplished in the thousands of years of existence? The class division between men and women is vast. Women are still treated as second class citizens, being forced to hide their faces in public and bow to the rule of man. Their sole economic benefit is that the Arab world sits on a rich deposit of oil. Other than that, there has not been significant innovation, social progression, or governmental infrastructure in recent memory. Instead, the Middle East has given birth to some of the most ruthless tyrants, terrorist organizations, and radical religious parties that have ever grazed humanity. The Arab world is a relic of the Persian Empire, unable to move past an old and rusted mentality.
The true conflict is not one of religion, land, or even a clash of ideals. It exists because of one simple truth; the Arab world is seeking to destroy the state of Israel. This is not an assumption; it is a restatement of what was said by Palestine, Iran, and other Muslim nations. One has to only look at history to see the aggression against Israel and they will see that the Arab nations have initiated four wars against the Israeli state; the War of Independence, Sinai War, Six Day War, and the Yom Kippur War. In all of these wars, Israel has given back the majority of land that was taken. Yet, the Arab world still cries of persecution and aggression when Israel was defending it’s territories in every conflict that has occurred even up to the modern day where thousands of rockets rain down on civilian targets, Israel retaliates, but does not preempt. Nevertheless, that does not stop the media from ostracizing the state for it’s actions. Nor does it stop the world community from laying claims of crimes against humanity and unwarranted retaliation. Yet, not a single nation has stepped in to regulate the situation, aid in upholding peace, and help work towards a solution.
There is a popular saying in the Jewish community; if the Arab world lays down it’s arms, then there will be peace. If Israel lays down it’s arms, then there will be no more Israel. One glance at history will prove this statement to be true. If the world wants peace in the Middle East, then the peace has to start from the Arab states and not Israel. It is time for the political games and childish debates to end. I urge the world to look at the Middle Eastern conflict with unbiased eyes and act, instead of criticizing and supposing until the end of days.
