Whenever I see a new product, I always wait for a promotion. I was lucky enough to see the Pantene Pro-V Ice Shine Shampoo, reduced to $3.99, with $2.50 back in register rewards. At $1.49 I figured I had nothing to loose.
I love the elegant looking bottle. It is contoured and does look like ice, or something cool and crisp. The bottle is clear, and the shampoo looks blue, but that is because of the label on the back of the bottle. It contains 12.6 fluid ounces (375 ml.)
It states on the front of the bottle that it ‘transforms dull, lifeless hair for all-day shine’.
As I only wash my hair every 5 days, as it is up in a French twist, when I let it down it can look tired, and knotted. I figured that Pantene may have come up with the perfect product for my sad looking hair.
Upon opening the flip up lid, there is a tiny hole, that allows the shampoo to come out. I think this is a great idea, as often I pour too much.
So when I was taking my shower, I wet my hair, and opened the shampoo. The smell is floral, but very light, and appealing. The shampoo is almost like a gel, as it is thick. I applied it to my hair, and it formed a good lather. I ensured that it went through all my hair, particularly my ends. I rinsed my hair, and didn’t feel that it needed a second application.
I understand that there is a Pantene Pro-V Ice Shine conditioner, but I didn’t notice it when I brought the shampoo. Then I used one of my good quality conditioners after it.
I finished up using gel, blow-drying it, and using the curling iron, before teasing it. Once my hair was how I wear it, I was anxious to see the shine. I have to say that my hair wasn’t any better than using any good quality shampoo. It did it’s job, but there was no extra shine.
From the back of the bottle:
“You have dull, tired hair.
You want healthy hair with gorgeous shine.
Advanced Pantene Pro-V Ice Shine shampoo and conditioner system with shine enhancers is designed to leave hair conditioned and shiny. Leaves hair naturally reflective, smooth and shining with health.
For best results, try other products in the Ice Shine Collection.”
As I didn’t use the Pantene conditioner with the shampoo, it may have made a difference, but I am sure that many people don’t buy them both. I only use such a small amount of conditioner compared to shampoo, that they last 3 times longer.
Water, sodium laureth sulfate, sodium lauryl sulfate, PPG-2, hydroexyethyl coco/isotearamide, sodium chloride, citric acid, sodium citrate, fragrance, panthenol, panthenyl ethyl ether, polyquaternium-10, sodium benzoate, tetrasodium EDTA, methylchlorisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolanone, sodium exlenesulfonate.
I have now used the shampoo on three occasions, and my hair does look good, has a shine, and is manageable, but I can say this about most of the quality brand shampoos. Pantene are marketing this on the ‘shine’ factor, and I am not buying their claim. My hair also had the same amount of body, and fullness, so it didn’t out perform on this either.
I personally wouldn’t purchase Pantene Pro-V Ice Shine Shampoo again. It is an average shampoo, and certainly doesn’t live up to what I expected of it.
