When deciding to get an MBA online, it is important to go through an accredited program. Furthermore, going to an AACSB-accredited school assures one that they are receiving a quality education. AACSB is the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Established in 1916, this association has been dedicated to improving collegiate business education. One of the ways they have done this is by creating and revising accreditation standards over the years. Schools who go through the process of becoming AACSB accredited have worked hard to achieve this status. Here are some of the AACSB-accredited online MBA programs.
The University of Scranton
The University of Scranton’s online MBA program is the same as the on campus program. The Princeton Review rates this school one of the Best Business Schools in the United States. Designed for working individuals, students have access to the courses 24 hours a day. Some of the core courses in this general MBA include accounting for management, managerial economics and financial management. The advanced courses include marketing research and investment analysis. It is important to check to see if you have the appropriate foundation or prerequisite courses before applying.
W. P. Carey School of Business
This AACSB-accredited school is associated with Arizona State University. Except for one campus visit, their MBA program is completely over the Internet and focuses on one class at a time. The W. P. Carey School of Business takes about two years to complete. Those who are considering going to this school must pass the Graduate Management Admissions Test or GMAT. In addition, they need two letters of recommendation, transcripts and are required to write three essays with set questions. The essay topics can be viewed here.
Washington State University
The Washington State Online MBA program allows candidates to complete the flexible programs in two years. The U.S. News & World Report ranks this program as one of the top sixty public universities. The curriculum consists of strategic leadership classes, management of innovation courses, functional business tools curriculum and electives. The entire faculty has PhDs and the program is AACSB accredited.
The LeBow College of Business is a Drexel University School. There is an option for the MBA Anywhere program and the MBA in Pharmaceutical Management. The MBA Anywhere program is a “24-month, part-time, cohort format.” Choose to specialize in finance, entrepreneurship, marketing or engineering management. Prospective students are able to apply in April and September. To get into Lebow, one must have a four-year bachelor’s degree, GMAT passage, professional experience, references, statement of purpose and professional resume.
For the MBA in Pharmaceutical Management, 14 of 17 classes are online. Know that there are also week-long residency classes that are taught in person.
George Washington University
At George Washington University, one can pursue a Healthcare MBA Program online. This two-year MBA program has a core business focus with electives that center on subjects like physician practice management or management of acute care hospitals. The 23 core classes are each seven weeks long. One needs a bachelor’s degree, three to five years of professional working experience and GMAT results.
It is important to note that it is not the same to be an AACSB International member as it is to be AACSB accredited. Also, if you have earned a degree outside of the United States, most of these programs will require a Test of English as a Foreign Language.
