Whether you’re looking for a quick and easy gift idea, or simply want to freshen up your own home, you can’t go wrong with scented sachets. There are very few supplies needed to make a no-sew scented sachet, and it is an easy craft project that children can enjoy too. Here we will look at two different methods of making a pretty scented sachet.
How to make a no-sew scented sachet – Option 1
Materials needed:
– Potpourri
– Pinking shears
– Scrap fabric or pretty handkerchiefs
– Tacky craft glue
This easy craft project will smell great and keep dresser drawers fresh. The finished no-sew scented sachet will resemble a flat, pillow-like package. Follow the instructions below to make a scented sachet:
Select a fabric – A breathable fabric works best for this easy craft project. You can either use a vintage handkerchief to make a no-sew scented sachet, or buy inexpensive scrap fabric from your local fabric shop. You will need two pieces of fabric for each scented sachet.
Cut the fabric – Use pinking shears to cut the fabric into approximately 5″ squares. The pinking shears give the edges a decorative look. If you have scrap booking scissors that will cut into fabric, those can be substituted.
Add the potpourri – Place one piece of the fabric face down on a flat surface. Add a spoonful of potpourri to the center of the fabric.
Apply tacky craft glue – Outline the outer edge of the fabric with craft glue. Do not apply too much glue, as it will leak out of the sides if too much is applied.
Apply fabric – While the glue is fresh, apply the second piece of fabric, face up, and press down firmly. Place a heavy object on top of the scented sachet while it dries. Do not handle until dried completely.
