Nikki Haley wants to be the governor of South Carolina. She’s buddies with Sarah Palin, who has been endorsing her lately. But now there are claims that this Republican candidate had an extramarital affair. Is the GOP in South Carolina going to find itself in another scandal?
Affair Between Nikki Haley & Will Folks?
South Carolina blogger Will Folks is claiming that allegedly Nikki Haley, who is running for governor in South Carolina, had an affair with him in 2007. Folks was the spokesman for former South Carolina governor Mark Sanford.
Folks stated that he and Nikki shared over 700 phone calls, reports the Huffington Post. The calls occurred while Haley was still married. She had a 13-year marriage.
Folks claims many of the calls were made during late night hours in 2007. This is the time period when he was working on the campaign of Nikki Haley. One phone call began at 2:24 a.m. and lasted 146 minutes, notes the Huffington Post.
34 Hours Together on Phone July-Aug. 2007
Were the phone calls related to campaign work or was something else going on? Most people are asleep at 2:24 a.m. The Post and Courier in South Carolina reports that “Between July 1 and Aug. 31, 2007 -the time that included most of the late-night calls – the two spent a total of 34 hours on the telephone.”
Haley told Live5 News in South Carolina that she denies any romantic involvement with Folks. She stated: “I think the people of this state deserve me talking about the issues, I think they deserve me being focused, and I will not be distracted.”
With South Carolina still reeling from the affair of former Governor Mark Sanford, the state is unlikely to vote for Haley. Sanford’s frequent press conferences talking about his lover was surely scandal enough for South Carolina.
Nikki Haley at 39% Approval: Close to Scoring Nomination
Haley only had 12% of the potential vote for governor several months ago. Then recently polls showed she had 39% of the vote. If her score goes up just one point she will get the nomination from the GOP, reports the Wall Street Journal.
Is Sarah Palin’s presence in the Haley campaign what is giving her the boost in ratings? Or is it that former Governor Sanford’s wife Jenny is backing Haley too?
Will Nikki Haley Give Some Proof to Deny Affair?
Is “Nookie Nikki” or “Naughty Nikki” as she’s being referred to a lot in the comments left on articles, going to clear herself by releasing her phone records? Why is she dallying on proving that the blogger is lying?
The Tea Party supports Haley. Will this be another scandal to taint both the Tea Party and the GOP?
