A new Heidi Montag reality show with friend Jennifer Bunney is on the horizon. A Heidi Montag-Jennifer Bunney reality show doesn’t seem like a great idea on paper though, and it’s hard to imagine why she feels that this is going to be something that will draw a wide audience. They are going to try it out anyways, and according to Radar Online they are already well on their way to filming this show. Not only that, they have reportedly paid about $400,000 for security to watch over the Malibu beach house that they will be using as a setting for this new show. The filming will begin in July, with a planned debut at some time in the fall.
With MTV deciding to cancel The Hills, it is giving Heidi Montag plenty of free time to work on a new show. Jennifer Bunney used to star on The Hills as well, so they have already worked on scripted reality of television in preparation for this show. There had been reports that Spencer Pratt would have a part in the new show as well, but with the recent split up of Montag and Pratt, that equation may have changed a bit when it comes to their new reality show. Maybe that isn’t such a bad thing either, and maybe it will help this new Heidi Montag show move towards territory that Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie owned with The Simple Life on FOX.
There are a few questions that come along with the stories of the new Heidi Montag-Jennifer Bunney reality show, and the most important one is that no network has stepped up to claim that they are airing this production. It seems more like Montag and Bunney are filming a show that they hope to sell to a network when it is completed, and that it is quite possible that the show never ends up making it to national television. Sure, we do live in a world where just about anything can make its way into becoming a reality show, but most of the major networks also have a line that they won’t cross when it comes to low-brow shows. It is starting to seem like this one could mirror the one that Britney Spears and Kevin Federline tried to film and then sell, which didn’t draw the positive attention that they had been hoping for.
Jennifer Bunney filmed five episodes of The Hills and eight episodes of Laguna Beach in her acting career. Basically she has only been in a few episodes of two canceled reality shows, and then there is Heidi Montag who moved from Laguna Beach, to The Hills, and also took a turn on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! that she tried to quit. With that extensive reality show career between the two of them, it seemed to line them up well to work together on yet another reality show, but will the audience turn out. We will have to wait until the fall to find out if a network has even actually invested in this endeavor, or if this is just an exercise they will go through that never sees the light of day.
