NASCAR 2010 Autism Speaks Dover 400: Las Vegas Odds to Win & Picks

by itchy fish

The Autism Speaks 400 on the Dover International Speedway is one of the more physically demanding races on the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit. Dover is a high banked, one mile concrete track, that pulls more G force on the drivers than the longer high banked tracks. The NASCAR Cup race at Dover was originally 500 miles and was moved to 400 miles to placate driver complaints of the race being too long.

Although Jimmie Johnson is the favorite at 6-1, this may be a last chance to take him at 6-1. Johnson swept the Dover races last year and he knows how to get in a rhythm on the Dover Monster Mile. Johnson has a total of five wins in 16 starts at Dover and if he qualifies well on Friday look for his odds to drop below 3-1. Jeff Gordon, Johnson’s teammate and owner, is also dominant on the Dover mile and will be there at the end of the race.

Although history points to the two Hendrick Motorsports drivers battling at the end of this race, momentum points to a Joe Gibbs Racing driver to take home the trophy at Dover. Denny Hamlin has been lights out since surgery on his knee, winning two races and appearing to have no ill effects while driving the car. Meanwhile, teammate Kyle Busch also has been up front the last five races. Busch has had some setbacks, with questionable pit calls from his new NASCAR Cup crew chief, David Rogers, but will be there at the end also.

Kyle Busch is 6-1 to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup Autism Speaks Dover 400.
Kyle Busch and the Joe Gibbs Racing team as a whole, have thrived since going back to the spoiler and this track does suit Kyle Busch’s rim riding, hang it out style. If Busch qualifies well, his odds will drop to 4-1 or 3-1, so anyone looking to take the Las Vegas native will need to make the bet early. Busch’s teammate, Denny Hamlin, will find this race the most physically demanding on his knee but he will cope and finish top five. Busch at 6-1 is the best bet to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup Autism Speaks Dover 400.

Tony Stewart is 25-1 to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup Autism Speaks Dover 400.
Tony Stewart has struggled early this season but that is par for the course when it comes to Stewart. He usually doesn’t kick into to gear until the weather warms up. Stewart a two time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion is a former dirt track star and the Dover mile suits him well. Stewart ran second to Jimmie Johnson in the Spring event last year and don’t be surprised if he brings home the trophy this Sunday. Tony Stewart at 25-1 is the second choice to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup Autism Speaks Dover 400.

Juan Pablo Montoya is 20-1 to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup Autism Speaks Dover 400.
Juan Pablo Montoya may be in the midst of a long dry spell but the fast Dover concrete is a track that fits Montoya like a glove. Montoya is not afraid of running inches from the wall or driving deep into a corner to make a pass. The Dover track requires guts and reaction time. Two traits that are second nature to Montoya. Montoya will be there at the end it will take a smart pit call to bring him home first. Juan Pablo Montoya at 20-1 is the third choice to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup Autism Speaks Dover 400.
