With summer being the most popular time to get married we had our fair share of them seemingly all at the same time. The weddings were spaced out and over the course of the summer so we had time to re-group, plan and arrange. The weddings in question were people in our lives that we love very much and I was very glad we were able to help and attend these joyous occasions.
What entails happy, joyous summer weddings is family and friends gathering to celebrate the most important day of a couple’s life together, and to be able to share in this event is a blessing. With our families uniting as one, we were missing one vital part and that was our daughter who was stationed in Colorado serving in the U.S. Army and soon to be deploying to Iraq. I was disappointed for her as she missed all of these beautiful gatherings.
Hotel/overnight wedding and Golf Course venue
One summer the weddings we anxiously attended were of my 2 Nephew’s and their beautiful brides, One was at a luxurious Hotel where we all met, attended the ceremony, danced all night and slept peacefully all under the same roof. It was perfect. The following morning we all enjoyed a Sunday brunch with the newly married couple. It was priceless. The other Nephew married in Southern Ca. on a beautiful Golf course overlooking a spectacular mountain range. We danced and laughed admiring a magnificent sunset.
The following summer, again without our beautiful daughter, we celebrated 3 more fantastic summer weddings. One of which my daughter was to be in the wedding. A place setting was set for her at the wedding party table, a red rose and her picture adorned the table. As I helped plan this wedding I felt pangs of sorrow, but so much joy for a young lady whom I claim as my daughter # 2.The ceremony was in a beautiful backyard with family and friends gathered for a day of rare beauty.
St. Patrick’s Day Venue
My niece was married the same summer early in March on St. Patrick’s Day, in a big beautiful old church along with Scottish bagpipes,( they could have been Irish) a stretch Limo and beautiful photographs that adorn a perfect day. As our daughter had made special plans to be able to get home for this one, she barely made it, only to be greeted at the airport gate with a lot of us still in our wedding attire. We did have to leave the bride and fetch our daughter who had hoped to be present to witness the event. I felt saddened that she wasn’t able to attend the ceremony, but we were all so happy to have her home for a short time it only added more happiness to this special occasion.
That same summer my Twin sister married her long time beau in a lavish Hawaiian Luau setting in her backyard, along with Luau dancers, tikki torches, fresh flower lei’s and Hawaiian food. This spectacular wedding brought all the family together in celebration of this unique union. My Twin flanked by her two beautiful daughters and her new step daughter, they all looked so precious up at the podium, barefoot with smiles from ear to ear. Again missing our daughter and praying all was well with her, I was handed the microphone, in hopes of saying something eloquent, but I could not manage to say anything that remotely made sense I got choked up and could only say that I loved all of them.
