There is a place in Reno Nevada where both kids and adults can have fun. You think in Reno a city built around gambling, how can the kids possibly have fun. But it is possible and you can find everything that you can think of at Boomtown Casino and Hotel.
Boomtown Casino and Hotel is located at 2000 Garson Road which is 7 minutes from Reno in a city called Verdi. The western-themed casino and hotel offers something for people of all ages. For the scenery you will see the Sierra Mountains behind you. It is in a beautiful location.
The business shares property where a truck stop is located also. Here you will find a gas station, mini mart, and a RV park that has spots for 203 vehicles. So if you do not want to stay at the hotel, you have the option of staying at the RV Park.
The casino is 42,000 square feet and is full of fun for any one that enjoys slot machines. There are a lot of video poker games and penny and nickel slot machines with fun bonus games where you can attempt your luck at. They have a few 25 cent and dollar machines also. They do not have any table games and the slot selections are not a huge variety but it is still fun. So if you are a high stakes gambler, you will not enjoy being at this casino.
For the kids, Boomtown offers them 30,000 square feet of fun at the Family Fun Center. In here you will definitely not hear the kids say that they are bored. You will find a climbing rock wall in here, black light miniature golf, arcade games, flight simulator, Antique Carousel, 3-D motion theater, Covered Wagon Ferris Wheel and other rides, inflatable bouncing house, and a teen center complete with a dance floor and music.
After you have been at the casino and fun center you will have worked up an appetite. At Boomtown you have 5 great choices for meals based on what you are hungry for. If you are looking for a huge, juicy steak Cassidy’s Steak house is what you want. They have a mouth watering steaks, pastas and fresh seafood.
We ordered Shrimp Bruschetta for an appetizer and I had San Francisco Cioppino for my meal. The cioppino was mussels, lobster, shrimp, salmon, clams and scallops in a tomato garlic broth. My husband ordered the Colorado Lamb Chops with mint demi. It is a little high priced in here but well worth it for a nice adult dinner, not recommended for the kids. For my husband and I our bill was a $104 but we had an appetizer, 2 meals and 2 glasses of wine, so overall it really was not that bad.
The Lobster Buffet was my favorite because I am a huge seafood fan. In here Monday through Friday from 3pm-9pm you could eat all of the Whole Maine lobster you could fit in your stomach. It was so good! They also offered salads, soups, fruit, shrimp, potatoes and other items along with the lobster.
If you are looking for something for just a quick power up, then Peet’s Coffee and Tea or Denny’s would be the place for you to go. Peet’s served fresh pastries, coffee and tea. Denny’s is a chain restaurant that is well known for their burgers. They also serve a great breakfast here! From pancakes to eggs to waffles it is all good.
Then for the adults you have 4 lounges and bars to choose from to kick back and relax and enjoy a cocktail. There is the Cactus Bar where you will be surrounded by tall cactus sculptures. You can head back into Cassidy’s and have a drink at the bar located in the restaurant. The Snake Bar was a long curvy bar where the top was decorated with green, black and red tiles. Then last but not least, my favorite was the Six Shooter Saloon Bar. The bar chairs here were large cowboy boots and you were surrounded by old Western decorations. The atmosphere was just fun as you sat back and watched sports on the large screen TVs.
For hotel accommodations they offer their guests 318 rooms. We stayed in the North Tower Classic and the room was very nice. For the view outside the window, we had a nice partial view of the mountains. In the room you have everything you need like free Wi-Fi internet, iron and board, coffee machine, hair dryer, a wet bar, fridge and personal safe.
Overall I thought that this was a great place for families. My nieces and nephews had a blast in the arcade and at the family fun center. The adults had fun relaxing in the unique and colorful atmospheres for the bars and playing the slots in the casino. I would definitely visit Boomtown again!
