Motivation is something that we have all had the pleasure of feeling at one time or another in our lives. Motivation is a feeling of optimistic emotions that are used for “our” greater good. It is a tool to help “us” get where we want to be or complete a long/short term goal that “we” personally have. But what most people don’t know about motivation is that it is inflicted by outside circumstances, yet it is self administered. Motivation is what gets you going, but determination is what keeps you going.
The first rule for motivation is to have a “self motivational pep talk” prepared for yourself when you start to get de-motivated. If you are like most people, you have great ideas that come to you all the time. It is just a matter of “putting the words on paper” and acting on them. So, when you motivated to do or complete something write it down. Even if it is only 1 or 2 words that come to mind, write it down or in our great technical world – type it in your phone, blackberry or mini laptop. The key here is to have a visual of that motivation so when you start to be de-motivated you have something to view as a reminder of how you felt at the time about your idea or goal.
When you write that idea or goal down, don’t be so quick to share your thoughts with everyone. If you have a great idea, and the idea isn’t patented it is possible for others to “use” your idea or a likeness of it. Make sure you keep your details of your idea or goal to yourself until you are ready to “release” you idea to the world. This sounds corny, but how many times have you heard someone say “I thought of that idea and now that person is making money off of it?” The fact is that thoughts are energy and energy is everywhere. Your whole body is made up of energy so why would your thoughts be any different?
Last and final rule, the cheapest and best way to trade mark an idea is to mail it to yourself, what do I mean? Well, say you have a great idea for a book. Jot down some ideas and an outline about the book, if you can write a few pages until you care completed with the book or idea and self address a copy of all the material with your original signatures on the documents stating that you are the originator of the idea or project. Then mail it to yourself. This way, you have a legal documented and sealed original copy of the work. If your idea is found out and sold you have a sealed federally documented copy of your work. The key is to not open the mail – this would prove to a judge or jury that your material is valid and factual. Get motivated and create something for the world, all the best.
