Hunting monsters, finding rare items, chilling with friends? Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii is a great addition to the series with its great monster hunting concept and design, as well as addictive gameplay and multiplayer play. But, does it compare well to other games on the market right now?
For these types of games, hunting and gathering, I tend not to care too much about the story and focus mainly on the gameplay. But to keep it nice and simple, the story line isn’t too original with your character learning about the dangers of monsters and slowly defeating them one by one getting stronger throughout the story. It’s a simple but great concept that has been working for years!
Game Play 5/5
Here’s where the game soars to new heights! Here’s what you will spend most of your time doing while playing this game; walking, killing, equipping items, refining weapons, repeat. It may sound really simple and repetitive but it’s far from that. If you’ve played these types of games before where exploration is huge then you might be familiar with the lock on system where you point and click to make your character do whatever you want. Here is a totally different story with its no lock on system. Yup, that means you are in full control of how and when your character attacks. It makes the game feel a lot of authentic and original. Besides just going around killing monsters, you have the option to take your time doing quests and enhancing your equipment as well as little things such as cook. It feels good watching your attack go up with your maxed out weapon!
There have been lots of complaints about previous Wii titles that don’t have crazy realistic graphics. What’s that all about? It’s called design and they can present their games however they want. This is irrelevant though as Monster Hunter Tri looks just amazing on the Wii. I can say in my own opinion that this game has the best graphics to offer on this console. The awe inspiring scenery and detailed monster designs make everything sync together really nicely.
Not to much to say here. It has all the sound effects you’d want. There are the slashing noises, gun shots, and dying noises. Very satisfying to hear all these but not too important. The music on the other hand is very atmospheric changing at the right times and being simple and calm when it needs to be.
Yes! Multiplayer! A game like this would suck so much without friends to play with. You are able to play with friends online but even better, you can play with a friend right at home with split screen game play. This makes the game a lot more longer and fun to play and mess around with friends. The game has so many quests and limitless game play with its online function that allows you to pair up with anyone around the world and quest together with up to 4 players.
Monster Hunter Tri is great game all on its already. Slap on the concept that this game is an already popular title with its previous titles and we have ourselves an instant hit. The game play is solid and brings everything that you’d want in a game like this. There are limitless replay value with its free online feature and I know I’ll be playing this for months on end!
The game comes at a price of $59.00 US
