As the one year anniversary of Michael Jackson’s passing approaches, his eldest sister Rebbie Jackson has commented about how the late King of Pop’s children are doing as well as the possibility that there is more to the investigation into his death than what initially met the eye.
Appearing on NBC’s Today show this morning, Rebbie Jackson shared with the world that Michael Jackson’s three kids, Prince, Paris and Blanket were initially devastated by the loss of their father, but that the Jackson family had stepped in to provide them as much stability and love as possible as they all collectively grieve the shocking loss of Michael Jackon on June 25, 2009.
Rebbie, who lives in Las Vegas and travels frequently to Los Angeles to spend time with her nephews and niece, said, “It was very difficult and very hard. But yet, day by day you could see the progress of family members getting better and dealing with the situation better and feeling more serene about it.
In addition to speaking about the children, Rebbie alluded, albeit in a non specific way, to the growing chorus of those who believe that more than just Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson’s personal physician, will ultimately be held liable in Jackson’s death. Responding to a question that raised the possibility of the case expanding to include other people than Dr. Conrad Murray, Rebbie said, “I think it’s a lot more than that possibly. We’ll find out. I can’t say too much, but it’s interesting what’s going on”.
Since Jackson’s passing, more has been exposed about both his personal life as well as his professional one…and by and large it’s been very redeeming for the memory, legacy and reputation of the King of Pop.
As the one year anniversary of his death approaches, there are seemingly a countless number of tributes being planned; one of the fastest growing is a Facebook group of one million fans pledging to light a candle for him at the exact one year mark of his passing.
In addition to the memorials, Michael Jackson has in many ways been redeemed through the efforts of Disney, which re-opened a Jackson themed attraction earlier this year.
Jackson was also feted at the Grammy Awards as his children accepted a Lifetime Achievement Award on his behalf. The National Film Registry also decided to include Jackson’s landmark video Thriller in its archives; the first music video such honored.
However, while all of the professional and entertainment honors would surely be appreciated by Jackson, the most important thing to him, and most good fathers, would be the extent to which his children are happy, healthy and successful. According to Rebbie Jackson, they are well on the path to being all of those things.
